Job Description:
The Salvation Army Ottawa Grace Manor is a licensed long-term care facility built on care, dignity and respect for all. Ottawa Grace Manor has 5 Resident Home Areas with either 25 or 26 beds on each, for a total of 128 residents. The home area on the first floor (Gladstone) is a secure home area. Two home areas are on the second floor (Queen and Parkdale) and two home areas are on the third floor (Wellington and Rosemount). Each home area is self-contained with its own dining room, lounge area, nursing station, laundry room, and activity room.

**Responsibilities**:
Reporting to the Food Services Manager, the Dietary Aide will perform a variety of duties related to the setting up and serving of meals, the preparation of food items such as muffins, sandwiches or toast, and the cleaning of dishes, trays and food service areas.

**Qualifications**:

- Must have a Food Service Worker (FSW) Certificate or be enrolled in program
- Grade 12 minimum, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- Completion of a Food Safe handling course
- Experience in long term care or a similar environment
- Ability to develop and maintain rapport with elderly residents
- Ability to work cooperatively with all staff and create a working climate that is positive and mutually supportive
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Commitment to the care of the elderly
- Ability to deal with others effectively
- Ability to organize work
- Ability to operate kitchen equipment
- Familiar with computers
- Ability to attend work
- Food Service Diploma required

**Hours of work**: evening shift 3:00pm-7:00pm; must be available to work every 2nd weekend

Part-time hours 14 hours weekly - Works Monday Tuesday, Sat Sun then Wed, Thurs, Fri

Under the direction of the Director of Nursing and Care, Strict infection control policies are in place and being followed. Protective equipment is provided by the home. The safety of our residents and staff is our top priority

**Job Types**: Part-time, Casual
Part-time hours: 14 per week

**Salary**: $21.57-$22.17 per hour
