The University of Alberta Hospital/Kaye Edmonton Clinic is one of Canada’s leading clinical, research, and teaching hospitals, treating more than 700,000 patients annually from western and northern Canada. The hospital offers a wide range of diagnostic and treatment services, including specialized adult services within neurosciences, cardiac sciences, surgery, medicine, orthopedics, renal, critical care, burns, transplant and trauma inpatient programs as well as a vast number of ambulatory clinics, many located at the Kaye Edmonton Clinic. This position will provide Social Work support to patients and families in the Parkinson and Movement Disorders Program at the UAH/KEC site. This will include social work assessment, intervention and support of individual patients with progressive neuromuscular disorders such as Parkinson’s Disease as well as providing support to their family members. In collaboration with the care team, this position will seek to identify, develop and deliver other supportive services to groups of patients and/or family members such as support groups, patient symposia, etc. This position will also participate with care team members in development of educational materials and resources, teaching, outreach and research opportunities. This position is part of the centralized Rehabilitation and Allied Health Program. The Kaye Edmonton Clinic is centrally located in the capital city, the heart of the academic campus, Old Strathcona and the beautiful river valley. Scheduling for this position may be negotiable and part time positions may afford up to full time hours on a casual basis.
**Description**:
As a Social Worker II, you will be a member of an inter-disciplinary team and provides a range of social work services to patients and their families. Your services may include: psychosocial assessment, resource-based interventions, individual, group and family treatment, risk screening, counselling, case management and coordination, transition or discharge planning, and prevention, promotion and public awareness activities.
Completion of bachelor's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).
