The Marketing, Events, & Social Media Coordinator works to facilitate inclusion of people with developmental disabilities within the community and assists with a wide range of internal and external communications projects supporting the goals of the entire agency.

The DDRC is a non-profit, registered, charitable organization that began in 1952. We offer programs and resources for children and adults with developmental disabilities, their friends and family, and other members of the community. **WHAT THE ROLE PROVIDES YOU**:

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Identify and build relationships with relevant community partners
- Ensure that the concerns of the individuals we support and their voices are heard in relevant community-driven initiatives and grow active participation where possible
- Find new community opportunities in which to involve the DDRC and promote awareness of our vision and mission
- Work collaboratively with agency peers
- Facilitate creative and critical thinking and problem solving skills where opportunities arise
- Communicate confidently with staff, clients and other agency stakeholders
- Take direction and work efficiently with mínimal supervision under direction from the CEO
- Represent the DDRC by maintaining a professional appearance and presentation
- Report on community development issues and initiatives
- Explore and become knowledgeable of the DDRC's various programs to integrate the principles and methodologies of community development
- Inform and involve the DDRC, clients, networks and stakeholders in relevant issues
- Participate in community driven initiatives, which may include advocating on issues that are pertinent and relevant to persons with developmental disabilities
- Utilize organizational and information management skills while performing day-to-day responsibilities
- Participate in the development of the communication strategic planning objectives
- Collaborate and implement internal and external Agency communication correspondence and public relation materials
- Monitor and create social media correspondence in accordance with DDRC policy and communication strategic initiatives
- Work with the Events Committee in the planning, design, production, promotion, overall co-ordination, execution, and follow-up of Agency events
- Support the External Vipond Committee with the development of tournament promotional materials
- Work collaboratively with Finance to ensure events stay within budget(s)
- Assist with fundraising strategies and support all aspects of fundraising programs
- Maintain accurate and timely record management of donors, volunteers, and other stakeholder data
- Raise awareness of fundraising campaigns and volunteer opportunities, both internally and externally
- Research and draft grant proposals meeting specified requirements and follow-up with reporting conditions
- Report and update the DDRC’s management and/or other stakeholders on a regular basis

**WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE**:

- University or college education in media, languages or arts fields is preferred
- Exceptional reading, writing and speaking skills are essential
- Experience in project development work and/or community development work is an asset
- Existing networks in community will be considered an asset
- Proficient in MS Office, with particular emphasis on Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Experience with social media (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, etc.) is an asset
- Experience with web design or desktop publishing is an asset
- Creating Excellence Together (CET) Accreditation experience within the disability sector, an asset
- Valid class 5 driver’s licence required
- Commercial business insurance with mínimal two million liability insurance
