**JOB SUMMARY**:
Reporting to the Director of Rehabilitation Services and guided by the practice and ethical standards set out by the British Columbia Association of Kinesiologists, the Kinesiologist works in collaboration with the Occupational Therapist (OT) / Physiotherapist (PT) / Registered Nurse (RN) to develop, implement, and evaluate transfer care plans, mobility care plans, and exercise plans to enhance the physical function of the residents to promote safe, functional independence of residents in a Long Term Care Home settings.

This role requires collaboration with the interdisciplinary and leadership team regarding operational matters and promotion of safe, quality resident care.

**KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- In collaboration with OT/PT/RN, assists with the screening of transfers and mobility abilities of residents.
- Participates in quality improvement initiatives and projects such as Safe Resident Handling and Musculoskeletal Injury Prevention staff training.
- Assists residents to attain functional transfer, mobility, and fitness goals.
- Carries out designated components of a rehabilitative treatment plan and/or program.
- Provides functional skills training to residents.
- Assists in the adjustments of seating systems, mobility, and assistive devices.
- Performs basic mobility equipment and seating system equipment maintenance.
- Completes relevant documentation.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

**Education, Training and Experience**
- Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Human Kinetics or Kinesiology with 1-2 years of relevant experience in a Seniors’ setting
- Member or eligible for membership with the British Columbia Association of Kinesiologists (BCAK)
- Valid Personal Optional Protection Insurance

**Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Attributes**
- Enjoys interacting with people - residents, families, and staff
- Has strong communication skills (oral and written)
- Demonstrates effective organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving abilities and the ability to prioritize work
- Demonstrates flexibility and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Demonstrates the ability to work independently and with minimum supervision while delivering quality resident care
- Personal qualities must include high level of maturity, professionalism, respect for confidentiality and commitment to quality resident care.
- Ability to speak and write Chinese - Cantonese or Mandarin is an asset.

**WORK SCHEDULE**

Mondays and Thursdays 8:15am - 4:15pm

Or

Tuesdays and Thursdays 8:15am - 4:15pm

**SALARY**

$30-35 /hr
- Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check._
