The Laboratory Technician is responsible for supporting production, analyzing a variety of samples using different test methods; performing microbiological and/or physical tests on raw material, in-process and finished products. Daily tasks include the receipt of samples, determining methods by reviewing procedures and specifications, testing samples (reporting any abnormal reactions to Laboratory leadership), documenting, and reporting of results, and cleaning and stocking the work area. The Laboratory Technician is also responsible for daily maintaining laboratory equipment and performing routine quality control checks.

This position is temporary

Other duties consists of the following:
Laboratory Microbiological and compositional
- testing of all raw and finished products,
- water testing
- environmental swabbing, air testing

Calibration
- verification of lab and production equipment

Results and communication
- compiling and reporting of data (butterfat’s, weights, shelf-life, micro)
- escalation of out of tolerance results
- creating/sending CoA’s

Remaining responsibilities
- investigating consumer complaints
- controlling “ON HOLD” and “RELEASE” mechanisms, extra testing and rechecks
- supporting of traceability program

Helps to maintain the requirements for food quality, safety, and defense

**REQUIREMENTS**:

- Bachelor’s Degree in a related science or a Diploma in Food Science and Technology
- Strong Excel and computer skills
- Available to work Saturdays and Holidays
- HACCP experience would be a plus
- Oracle knowledge would be a an asset
- Experience in a food manufacturing environment considered an asset
- Ability to problem solve
- Can work collaboratively in a team environmental
- Clear and concise written and verbal communication
