**POSITION OVERVIEW**

The Printing Press Operator must be able to perform all stages of the printing process, from the prepress stage and set up to the finished product. Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to, operation of a full colour digital press. This job requires strong organizational and time management abilities to ensure that the printing is done on time, with a high level of quality control. He or she will troubleshoot problems within the printing process, including operation of the machinery, throughput of paper, colour adjustment and alignment issues, as well as cutting, folding, binding and other finishing processes. This position requires a thorough knowledge of all aspects of printing and its associated processes and materials in order to recognize problems and correct them. The Printing Press Operator must also be able to advise company staff about printing options when necessary.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Assist in the evaluation and scheduling of print jobs to maximize press output and product quality
- Participate in all operations of the printing operation as needed
- Load paper
- Select and load appropriate inks
- Help monitor levels of supplies and ensure that adequate stocks are maintained
- Troubleshoot and correct problems during the print job as they arise
- Oversee all aspects of the mechanical operation of the press
- Perform / Oversee regular maintenance and minor repairs on the press and associated equipment
- Maintain knowledge of pre-press processes to be able to recognize problems and suggest possible solutions
- Maintain safe working conditions in the press room, with regard to machinery, as well as chemicals and materials used
- Operate small guillotine and other finishing equipment as required
- Perform other duties as required by the Managing Director

**SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS**
- Community college diploma or equivalent experience
- Minimum 3 years experience in a print environment or equivalent
- Knowledge of prepress systems
- Knowledge and experience with Pantone Matching System
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and stay on schedule in a fast-paced environment
- Experience in dealing with publishing and pre-press professionals
- Experience in creating and showing proofs to clients
- Ability lift ink containers and paper
- Solid understanding of design principles and a keen eye for attention to details
- Well organized and multitask oriented professional

**WORKING CONDITIONS**
- Manual dexterity required to operate controls, adjust press equipment
- Lifting or moving up to 50lbs may be required
- Standing for extended period of time

**Salary**: $15.89-$29.36 per hour
