The Clinical Lab Support Services (CLSS) Office of Alberta Precision Laboratories (APL) is seeking an experienced Manager to provide provincial support for APL technical operations. The CLSS Manager reports to the Director of Data Management and Analytics and provides functional and technical direction over all activities of the provincial program, in support of the vision, mission and business plan of APL. The position provides direct support and counsel to the leadership team on all aspects of Clinical Lab Support Services and collaborates closely with other managers and AHS Health Information Management to develop best practices, standardize policies and procedures, across the province. Provide operational leadership through effective communication, ethical decision making, and commitment to achieving established goals and objectives, ensuring outcome measurements and standards are enforced. The position identifies key challenges and opportunities to support the development of innovative approaches in ways that enable the achievement of the vision and long-term goals. Manages, implements, and evaluates various business functions, in accordance with corporate policy and programs.

**Description**:
The CLSS Manager will contribute to the strategic formulation, development or administration of policy and programs to support programs and delivery. This position commits to continually improving health and safety performance through promotion of culture supporting hazard assessment, risk management, incident identification, reporting and correction, and compliance with applicable regulations, policies, and safe work practices. Responds to critical or emergency incidents working collaborative with zone/site teams to mitigate incident risks. Participates in development of standards and ensuring adherence to established clinical laboratory standards. Ensures accreditation issues are addressed and follow-up is completed as necessary. Engages with key stakeholders in change process, understands the impact on both internal and external stakeholders and manages risks and benefits accordingly. The CLSS Manager will serve as a role model in relationship and people management. In collaboration with the Medical and Operational Leads, this position will function as a liaison with programs to ensure alignment of the provincial program with clinical requirements. Develop, implement, and evaluate strategies which build and sustain a high-performance workplace and foster positive relationships with stakeholders, encourages the continual educational growth and improvement in technical expertise of staff, and sets clear performance expectation of staff and develops performance planning and development. The CLSS Manager will provide fiscal oversight to the provincial program by managing operating budgets for the designated program responsibility consistent with the plans and guidelines established by senior management. This position will plan and determine resource allocation and collaborate with other departments to maximize resources.

**Required Qualifications**:
A minimum of 5 years in a clinical laboratory role ideally in an organization of significant size, complexity, and diversity. Progressive leadership experience in the clinical laboratory, including 2-3 years' experience in a management role in laboratory operations. Intermediate/advanced understanding of quality management systems. Proven leadership skills including team building, conflict resolution, written and verbal communication, and facilitation skills. Ability to work quickly and accurately in a fast paced and changing environment. Solution oriented with a focus on exercising sound judgment to creatively resolve issues. Effective communicator with strong organizational skills, influential skills, client focused orientation and commitment to providing quality services. Leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities, coaching, and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Relevant University degree or Advanced Registered Technologist (ART) designation
