**Paraiso Tropical - Latin Market** is looking to hire a grocery clerk for our team.

We are a locally owned family run business with a team who share a common interest in Hispanic food, culture and language. We seek to build stronger connections with existing customers and teach new ones about our local Hispanic cuisine.

Looking for individuals who are passionate about food and Latin American Culture & community.

**What you'll be doing**:

- Greet and serve customers for cashier and take-out food service
- Stocking and Maintaining inventory of assigned products
- Taking customer phone calls for orders and other request
- Informing/Teaching customers about products and providing advice
- Promoting new products and services on an ongoing basis
- Assist in packaging food products prepared in store
- Assist in receiving orders delivered to store
- Adhere to food safety and handling procedures
- Suggestive selling
- Other duties as required

Skills Necessary

1) Passion/Interest ethnic foods - Interest and willingness to learn more about Latin American foods to help provide important customer experience through suggestions, recipe ideas and teaching customer about Latin American cuisine

2) Proactive - Employee must demonstrate self-initiative to take and complete tasks on their own with mínimal supervision. Employees are assigned a specific food aisle and tasked with responsibility to ensuring stock amounts, expiry, inventory, organization and quality control.

3) Customer Service Skills - Willingness to engage in regular conversations with customers; develop own strategies to ensure customer satisfaction. Position best fitted for vibrant, outgoing, and proactive personalities. Position not well suited for shy or introverted personalities.

4) Basic Knowledge in Food Sanitation Practices (Training Provided)

5) Basic knowledge in cashier & computer skills - Ability to create and print out documents to maintain food procedures as well understanding basic functionality in using cashier software.

Knowledge of English & Spanish Language

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent, Temporary, Seasonal

**Salary**: $15.00-$17.50 per hour

Expected hours: 20 - 40 per week
