**ABOUT THE COMPANY**:
In 1911, Fred Curry opened his art supply store at the corner of Yonge St. and Bloor St. in downtown Toronto. Initially, he offered artist materials and photographic equipment, but the centre of his business was custom framing and selling etchings, oil paintings and watercolours.

**ABOUT THE ROLE**:
You will spend your time working on the sales floor while inspiring and providing exceptional customer service to our customers while assisting in daily operations in the store.

Your experience and willingness to lead by example will help you build Curry’s brand, cultivate a dedicated sales force, and maintain a store with a strong presence in your local arts community.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Inspire customers and provide expectational customer service through product knowledge, up-selling and suggestive selling techniques
- Follow LP and Health & Safety policies and procedures in the store
- Be a valuable team member to the Curry’s brand by understanding company values and portraying them to customers
- Quickly adapt to changes to internal policies & procedures, or within the Art Materials industry
- Filing reports
- Demonstrate consistency and punctuality
- Communicate effectively with the Store Management Team (Manager & Asst. Manager) and work with their direction
- Act as Manager on Duty as necessary
- Perform opening/closing duties
- Other duties as required

**REQUIREMENTS**:

- Post-secondary College or University diploma/degree or equivalent experience highly preferred (i.e. in a related field)
- At least two years experience in retail
- Extensive knowledge and experience with a wide variety of art materials and media
- Proficiency in math
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills in English
- Extensive experience with cash handling and point of sales transactions, including Chase debit/credit terminals
- Flexible schedule, with mandatory availability during our busiest times of year (Back to School and Holidays), and available to work evenings and weekends
- Understanding of the current Canadian retail climate
- Dedication to maintaining and building the Curry’s brand

**SKILLS**:

- History of dedication to customer service excellence
- Strong attention to detail, and ability to take lead on projects
- Ability to communicate effectively, in written and verbal form, to your Store Manager and peers
- Adaptable to industry, company, and product changes
- Ability to display a positive, engaging attitude
- Strong time management & organizational skills
- Dedication to punctuality
- Responsive and flexible
- Comfortable multi-tasking & able to prioritize to meet strict deadlines
- Self-motivated & able to work independently, and also as a member of a team
- Experience with a variety of art materials
- Display & merchandising experience are strong assets

**Salary**: $18.00 per hour
