**Position Overview**:
The Maintenance Lead Hand is responsible for assisting in the management of the day-to-day workload for the maintenance team to ensure an effective and efficient service is delivered and departmental targets are achieved, including the planning and resourcing of Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and maintenance shutdown. Drive a culture of continuous improvement throughout the team. Provide leadership to the team, coordinating and overseeing their workloads, providing support to ensure that the team delivers, monitoring any issues, and ensuring targets. Assist in developing the team by focusing on individual performance and support requirements to achieve high standards, while helping foster a culture of working safely.
This position will report to the Facilities/Maintenance Manager.
**This is a Day Shift, a full-time unionized opportunity. Hourly payment of $34.93/h**
**What you will be doing**:

- Assist in running an efficient maintenance operation that is able to fulfill operational and customer demand and meet set targets
- Perform effective diagnosis of breakdowns and timely repair of equipment to maximize availability
- Perform scheduled planned preventative maintenance in accordance to minimize unplanned downtime
- Assist in the analysis of issues to root cause and development of countermeasures, improvement actions, and/or suggestions to improve
- Control and source maintenance tools, equipment, and spares
- Document breakdowns, identifying root cause and remedial action to help identify and resolve recurring issues
- Effectively lead the maintenance team, working with the manager and colleagues to ensure a smooth workflow with maximum output
- Provide technical expertise to the team
- Assist in the identification of areas of development within the team to achieve a flexible and responsive team that can support the demands of the organization
- Motivate and coach the team to operational success
- Consistently promote high standards through personal example and roll out through the team so that each member of the team understands the standards and behaviors expected of them
- Assist the departments in efficiently using materials, labour, and equipment to meet and exceed production targets.
- Strong leadership and communication skills along with organizational skills are required
- Undertake continuous training and development
- Assist management in the coordination and communication of the department during vacations and absences.

**_Health & Safety_**
- Enforce and actively promote safe work and good housekeeping practices within the current Ontario Safety legislation and the Active Safety program by employing daily job observation.

**_Training & Supplies_**
- Ensures proper training and instruction of team with respect to expected standards of work performance, quality, and job safety.
- Advises on and applies technical knowledge/training to the team. Ensures required supplies for the team are on hand. Troubleshoots processes and equipment.

**_General_**
- Completes and ensures that all necessary reports and written documentation order to compliance with Active Exhaust Policies and Procedures.
- Participate in Continuous Improvement of the department.
- Ensure fair treatment of all employees consistent with the Employment Standards Act, the Human Rights Code, Active employee relations policies, and the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- Immediately advise the Manager of any circumstances that affect production, quality, or safety.
- Performs other duties as assigned

- 3+ years of relevant experience (maintenance)
- Computer literate
- Highly developed written and communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a team player
