Kennedy House (KH) is a not-for-profit organization with a long-standing dedication to providing exceptional personalized care for youth in the Greater Toronto Area for over 50 years. KH started with an initial family-like group home in 1971 and currently operates several residential and community-based programs, for marginalized and at-risk youth, including:

- One residential home for young people in care;
- Three homes for youth and young adults living with developmental disabilities;
- A Day Treatment school program for youth struggling in the typical school setting;
- Kennedy House Youth Centre, a secure custody facility for male youth experiencing conflict with the law;
- Bailiff services to safely and securely transport youth experiencing conflict with the law;
- Kennedy House After School Program for children aged 4-13 in underserved communities throughout Scarborough; and
- Kennedy House Youth Shelter, for youth aged 16-24 experiencing homelessness.

**Position Summary**:
Kennedy House Youth Centre, our secure custody/detention facility requires a Program Supervisor. In this position you will be part of a dynamic supervisory team that implements and maintains the overall functioning of the Centre. You will promote the Agency philosophy, adhering to the program design and demonstrating sound management skills in the pursuit of objectives and goals.

These functions are to be performed through independent completion and through the delegation of tasks, where appropriate, and by leading, teaching, coaching, monitoring, supervising and evaluating others to ensure maximum service delivery.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Staff training and supervision.
- Attend and participate in meetings: management, unit, staff and case management.
- Participate in client care including the intake process and overseeing the direct care provided by frontline staff.
- Closely oversee the case management and treatment plans implemented by staff and monitor these plans to ensure they are achieving their desired effect and are strength based.
- Make certain that all documentation is completed promptly, accurately and distributed to the appropriate parties. This includes but is not limited to documentation such as intake documentation, serious occurrences, behavioral reports, weekly documentation and more.
- Play a significant role in the successful implementation, facilitation, and evaluation of several clinical groups at the Centre. They are to be knowledgeable, exhibit leadership, and be able to lead any group if required.
- Role model appropriate and necessary cognitive behavioural interventions with young persons in order to support frontline staff in their development.
- Intervene during emergencies (of a medical, safety or security nature) and activate appropriate precautionary and contingency plans.
- Ensure the safety and security of the building, clients and staff at all times.
- Available to provide on call on a rotating basis.

**Qualifications**:

- Minimum 2 years in a supervisory role with additional 2+ years front-line experience
- Experience with young people in conflict with the law in secure custody and detention
- CYW / Corrections Diploma or related Bachelor’s Degree
- Experience in treatment settings; skilled in individual counseling and group work
- Management skills: demonstrated organizational, communication, decision-making and leadership abilities
- Knowledge of relevant legislation.
- Ability to function independently within the framework of a team
- Certification in First Aid and CPR
- Current and valid driver’s license
- Excellent written and computer skills
- Ability to work under pressure

**BONA FIDE OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENTS**

As an Ontario Government licensed male Youth Secure Custody and Detention Facility we are required to maintain a 1 staff to 5 youth ratio. We use a 2 male to 1 female staffing model in support of this requirement.
