Bring your excellent teaching and communication skills to our team as a Practice Monitor in our Professional Conduct and Regulatory Affairs (PCRA) department.
The College’s PCRA department investigates the conduct of dentists and responds to inquiries from the public about dental concerns. The department also provides support to both the Inquiries, Complaints and Reports Committee and the Discipline Committee in their decision-making roles and enforces committee decisions.
As a Practice Monitor, you will be responsible for assessing member remediation following dental coursework. Practice Monitors review records, make recommendations for improvement, and document member progress by preparing written reports for review by the Inquiries, Complaints and Reports (ICR) Committee.
You are an organized, detail-oriented individual with in-depth clinical dental knowledge and an understanding of RCDSO guidelines, resources and current standards of practice of the profession. You are an effective communicator and teacher who is comfortable working independently. Individuals must currently be practicing clinical dentistry with a minimum of 5 years of continuous practice or teaching in Ontario.
What can I expect to do in this role?
Reporting to the Manager, PCRA Projects and Compliance you will:

- Review file materials, including agreements, orders and decisions ICR and Discipline Committees to identify issues to be monitored
- Schedule remote monitoring visits of member dentists and occasionally arrange travel to and from the member’s practice
- Schedule telephone interviews with the dentist and/or staff (as required) and arrange secure transfer of records electronically Analyze dental charts and records to generate recommendations for continued member remediation
- Provide direct, constructive feedback to member dentists to assist with remediation and continuous improvement in both clinical and non-clinical areas of dental practice
- Provide member dentist with guidance regarding RCDSO guidelines, resources and current standards of practice
- Prepare monitoring reports in a prescribed format, summarizing records and discussions and identifying specific concerns and recommendations

What skills and background do I need?
**The Practice Monitor requires**:

- Degree in dentistry (DDS/DMD) and current registration with RCDSO
- Minimum five years of recent clinical dental experience in a practice or educational setting and/or similar monitoring experience
- Strong and up-to-date clinical dental knowledge
- In-depth knowledge of RCDSO Guidelines, Resources and Standards of Practice
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills; including ability to teach, coach and mentor in a constructive and collegial manner
- Superior organizational and time management skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, and the ability to summarize information into concise reports
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Access to a personal computer (desktop, laptop, or tablet computer)
- Familiarity with electronic dental recordkeeping and software systems
- Willingness and ability to occasionally travel within Ontario, including access to a personal vehicle
- Relies on best-practices, data, research and/or evidence to make informed decisions
- RCDSO is building its bilingual (French/English) capacity and excellent French language proficiency is required/an asset
- Current RCDSO staff, excluding inspectors are not eligible to apply

Compensation and Total Rewards
- Base hourly rate is $100 per hour, plus vacation pay
