Berto Contractors is an established family orientated underground civil utilities contractor based in the Lower Mainland since 1994. We are currently looking for a Lane Technician to join our civil construction team. Lane Technicians are responsible for preparing, implementing, and managing the Traffic Management Plan. The Lane Technician is responsible for using hand signals and signs to stop and direct traffic through work zones. The Lane Technician uses a hand-held direction sign to indicate to drivers when to stop or proceed slowly as well as answer questions about detours.

**Major Areas of Responsibility**:

- Implements and follows the Traffic Management Plan
- Protects workers, pedestrians and vehicle traffic in construction zones by regulating traffic flow
- Works with the Equipment Operators and truck drivers to ensure safety as vehicles navigate through the work site
- Ensures vehicles are in good working condition, notifying the Fleet and Logistic Supervisor when maintenance is required and ensuring vehicles are used strictly for business purposes only

**Qualifications**:

- A valid BCCSA Traffic Control Certification.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in flagging/traffic control.
- Valid BC Driver’s Licence with a good driving record
- Safety oriented.
- Dependable & reliable
- Effective communication skills.
- Strong work ethic, team player and good attitude.
- Must be able to pay attention and adhere to rules and regulations.
- Must be able to work with little supervision; must be self-directed.
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
- Ability to listen and communicate instructions clearly and firmly.
- Ability to work under pressure while remaining calm.

**Other Requirements**:

- Ability to work in all types of weather.
- Own reliable transportation.
- Own and maintain all PPE including, reflective vest, insulated clothing and CSA approved footwear. Hard hat supplied.
- Ability to work occasional nights and weekends, if necessary.
- Live within the Lower Mainland.
