**Position Summary**
The Community Safety and Wellbeing Supervisor is responsible for the planning, development, and execution of community safety and wellbeing initiatives for the City, the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry (SDG), and individual Townships within the Region. This role will focus on identifying safety and well-being needs in the community, coordinating resources, and collaborative implementation of programs that support the overall safety, health, and social stability of the community. The Supervisor will work closely with municipalities, interest holders, law enforcement, social services, and other organizations to create and promote a collective approach to community safety.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Coordinate community consultations, surveys, and public engagement activities, gathering input from diverse and underrepresented groups to inform the Region’s safety and well-being priorities.
- Support the implementation of the Region’s plans and strategies as they relate to community safety and wellbeing.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with law enforcement, healthcare providers, School Boards, and other relevant parties to promote safety and well-being initiatives, identifying opportunities for partnerships and resource-sharing.
- Support the collection and analysis of data for ongoing program evaluation to measure the effectiveness of community wide efforts to meet the milestones identified in the plan.
- Prepare reports and recommendations related to the progress of the CSWB Plan and initiatives to City Council, County Council, Township Councils. staff and interest holders.
- Proactively research and stay updated on federal, provincial, and local funding opportunities related to CSWB and the objectives identified by the plan including grants, subsidies, and public-private partnerships. Assess the eligibility criteria and requirements of various funding sources to identify suitable opportunities that align with the Region’s strategic goals and priorities in these areas.
- Coordinate and participate in community events and campaigns that promote safety, inclusion, and well-being.
- Collaborate with the Region’s managers, department heads, and external partners, to develop compelling community initiatives.
- Ensure proposals clearly align with the City and County’s CSWB objectives, addressing community needs, and demonstrating the impact of the proposed programs or initiatives.
- Assist with organizing internal and external workshops and training sessions on topics related to well-being, inclusion, and community safety, ensuring participation across different community sectors.
- Assist in the development of communications and outreach materials related to the Community Safety and Well-Being plan and its associated objectives, in collaboration with the City and County communications staff.
**Leadership of Others**
- Guide, coach, and support team members to meet operational objectives, ensuring compliance with organizational standards, legislation, service manager directives, policies, and procedures.
- Foster a collaborative and respectful work environment by addressing concerns, providing constructive feedback, appropriate progressive discipline, and supporting skill development.
- Facilitate the successful onboarding of newly hired employees by delivering comprehensive training and continuous development, ensuring alignment between their role, organizational objectives, and the municipality’s culture.
- Promotes a DEI culture among staff as connected to socio-economic diversity, social justice and poverty reduction.
**Position Requirements**
Education & Certifications:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, community development, or a related field.
**Experience**:
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in community-based program management, public safety, diversity, equity, and inclusion, or social services.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be acceptable.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Project Coordination: Strong background in coordinating projects, including budget management, timeline oversight, and resource allocation.
