**About the job**:
Google's custom-designed machines make up one of the largest and most powerful computing infrastructures in the world. The Hardware Testing Engineering team ensures that this cutting-edge equipment is reliable. In the R&D lab, you design test equipment for prototypes of our machinery and develop the protocols used to scale these tests for the entire global team. Working closely with design engineers, you give input on designs to improve our hardware until you're sure it meets Google's standards of quality and reliability.
As a Hardware Lab Coordinator within Augmented Reality (AR) Hardware Engineering, you will own and manage all related lab activities including SMT rework of prototypes. You will organize and document lab related processes and work within Google Lab protocols. You will work closely within the electrical engineering team, supporting equipment purchases, inventory tracking, and the necessary calibrations. As such, you will be responsible for communication with vendors to support required equipment. In the lab, you will provide support in all aspects of rework. Rework will also include assembly, disassembly, and modification of devices.
The Google Augmented Reality team is a diverse group of experts tasked with building the foundations for great immersive computing and building helpful, delightful user experiences. We're focused on making immersive computing accessible to billions of people through mobile devices, and our scope continues to grow and evolve.
**Responsibilities**:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations in the AR hardware labs.
- Work with facilities and EHS to ensure a safe and healthy workspace.
- Manage lab inventory as well as overall lab organization, layout, and equipment calibration.
