We're looking for a** Director of Product Compliance, Financial Services** to join our **Legal team**.** You will operate under the supervision of the Assistant General Counsel, and your core responsibilities will be advising product, engineering, sales, and operational teams on compliance, risk, and control development in order to launch and support compliant financial services products within the context of a global enterprise.
**What you'll be doing**:
- Develop, implement and maintain compliance plans, playbooks, and best practices in order to expand and scale our financial services product suite
- Actively monitor compliance and regulatory developments industry wide
- Conduct _ad hoc_ analyses and manage complex, cross-functional, and/or multi-jurisdictional projects
- Train colleagues and stakeholder groups on what to watch out for from a compliance perspective
**What you need to bring**:
The legal, equity and procurement team is 27 people located in Canada and Europe. Our team is responsible to propel Lightspeed's success, empowering our global stakeholders by navigating legal challenges, turning risks into opportunities, providing commercially-minded solutions, and championing integrity.
- 6+ years of experience working in compliance advisory role, ideally in a financial technology company or in the payments industry
- Demonstrated track record of working with financial partners on regulatory compliance matters including, but not limited to: financial crimes, licensing requirements, regulatory reporting, financial product obligations, consumer compliance, conduct risk, complaints handling, money transmission rules
- Experience evaluating emerging products for compliance risk, working with the product and business stakeholders to implement creative solutions to tough compliance requirements, and conducting compliance reviews of new products and marketing materials
