**About the Opportunity**
We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time **Head Cook** based on **Quadra Island, BC.**
More specifically, your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Meal Preparation and Planning
- Design and prepare daily menus, ensuring a balanced, nutritious, and culturally mindful approach.
- Integrate traditional Indigenous ingredients and cooking methods alongside contemporary culinary techniques.
- Oversee food preparation, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and occasional special events.
Kitchen Management
- Manage kitchen operations, ensuring a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Order and maintain inventory of ingredients and kitchen supplies, keeping within budget guidelines.
- Comply with food safety standards, maintaining a sanitary kitchen and proper food storage.
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with clinical and support staff to accommodate dietary needs for clients in recovery.
- Coordinate with staff to adapt meal plans according to client needs, medical restrictions, or seasonal ingredients.
- Foster a respectful, inclusive kitchen environment that promotes teamwork and support.
Cultural Competency
- Honor and incorporate Indigenous ways of knowing and being in meal planning and preparation.
- Exhibit cultural humility, demonstrating respect and reverence for traditional foods and preparation methods.
**About You**
To qualify, you will need professional experience in culinary roles, ideally in healthcare or community-oriented settings, and a commitment to cultural respect and culinary excellence.
Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:
- Demonstrated experience as a Head Cook, Sous Chef, or similar role, with a proven ability to plan, prepare, and serve nutritious meals in a high-volume setting
- Knowledge of Indigenous culinary traditions or a willingness to learn and integrate traditional ingredients and methods respectfully
- Certification in Food Safe Level 1 or higher (or willingness to obtain), with strict adherence to food safety standards and kitchen cleanliness
- Skill in developing varied, balanced meal plans that accommodate dietary needs and cultural preferences, with the flexibility to adjust as needed
- Ability to manage kitchen operations, oversee staff, and maintain inventory within budget guidelines
- Capacity to work effectively in a team environment and adapt to a dynamic, recovery-focused setting
- Basic computer skills, including knowledge of the MS Office suite
- Clean Criminal Record check

**About the Benefits**
A competitive salary range of **$60,000 - $75,000**per annum and a host of excellent benefits including:
