What You Will Get To Do
Reporting to the Supervisor(s) of Operations (Roads/Traffic), and under the direction of the Working Foreperson(s), the Road Patrolperson is responsible for:
- identifying and accurately reporting all hazardous situations and/or road deficiencies and conditions, in accordance to the Minimum Maintenance Standards (summer and winter);- securing and repairing identified deficiencies including minor ploughing and/or sand/salt as well as dispatching to the appropriate operational division for the necessary attention and/or repair;- general traffic control for both stationary and rolling road repair operations;- picking up litter, garbage and/or road debris;- ensuring all equipment and/or tools are operated in a safe and professional manner;- providing excellent customer service, including responding to inquiries/concerns from the general public, emergency services, agencies and/or other members of staff in a courteous manner
Reporting to the Supervisor(s) of Operations (Roads/Traffic), and under the direction of the Working Foreperson (s), the Labourer, Roads is responsible for:
- operating and maintaining various equipment, vehicles and tools;- flagging and traffic control;- installation of traffic signs and detours;- repairing and/or installing Town fences;- concrete repairs and installation;- assisting with roadway patrolling, maintenance, repairs and/or clean up;- tree trimming and/or removal;-
- all equipment and/or tools are operated in a safe and professional manner;- providing excellent customer service, including responding to inquiries/concerns from the general public and other members of staff in a courteous manner; and,- assisting with other duties as assigned.

You solve problems by identifying, gathering and processing relevant information to determine possible solutions, research options, evaluate them using your technical, numerical and analytics skills and make recommendations.
Using sound judgment, you demonstrate tact, diplomacy and sound discretion when working with the public. You are knowledgeable about and work in compliance with all workplace safety regulations, standards, and practices. You perform work in a safe manner and encourage and support others to do the same.
What You Bring To Our Team
As the successful applicant, you must possess:
- community college and/or trade school courses in carpentry, cement work or a related discipline;- three (3) years directly related work experience with road
