At the heart of an advocacy-based return-to-work/remain-at-work program is compassion, empathy and understanding. This position

will provide advocacy for any employee requiring medical accommodation to remain in, or transition back into the workplace.

Under general direction of the Disability Management Lead, the Accommodation Facilitator advocates for employees affected by a

disability to enable them to remain-at-work or return-to-work in a timely manner and meaningful capacity. The Accommodation

Facilitator is responsible for providing guidance, support, and recommendations to employees, line management, and Human

Resources staff to facilitate the successful placement of employees within the Enterprise. The Accommodation Facilitator will build

strategic relationships that directly support and enable Manitoba Hydro's disability management and medical placement processes.

**_ Responsibilities:_**

  • Facilitate the accommodation and return-to-work processes in a manner that balances the interests of the employee and

Manitoba Hydro, is aligned with enterprise guidelines and operating principles, is compliant with collective agreements and

other legal and regulatory requirements and achieves best possible outcomes.

  • Build strategic relationships with internal and external customers and stakeholders in support of disability management and

placement initiatives.

  • Educate and advise stakeholders on legal, regulatory, and policy obligations and leading practices for the disability

management and medical placement processes.

  • Coordinate the design of a return-to-work/remain-at-work plan, including any workplace accommodations and medical

successful medical placements and return to work.

  • Working collaboratively with the Disability Management Case Officers, identify other support services that might benefit the

employee, including self-help groups, counseling, and support from community organizations.

  • Assist employees who cannot return to their previous jobs with obtaining career counseling, training, or education.
  • Facilitate communication between line management, Business HR, and Disability Management within the remain at work and
  • return to work processes.

**_ Qualifications:_**

  • Four-year bachelor's degree in a related field from an institute of recognized standing, plus a minimum of five years of directly

related experience.

  • Two-year Diploma in Disability Management or related field from an institute of recognized standing plus a minimum of seven

years directly related experience.

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certified Return to Work Coordinator designation (CRTWC) or equivalent is an asset.
  • Ability to work in partnership with injured/ill employees and advocate on their behalf while demonstrating compassion and
  • empathy, to create a positive outcome for the employee and the Enterprise.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to influence and maintain effective working relationships with
  • leaders, employees, union officials, and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to make timely decisions using progressive thinking, collaboration and business case analysis, arriving at creative
  • solutions.
  • Remain current with best practices in Disability Management and Accommodation/Placement strategies and to upgrade
  • professional knowledge through attendance at conferences and seminars and reviewing Disability Management literature.
  • Adaptable and flexible in responding to changes in the environment and business requirements.
