The Transportation Planner is responsible for all aspects of domestic transportation for our Dole Packaged business unit from Dole’s third-party warehouses to our customers, the shipments from Dole’s North American manufacturing locations, copackers or vendors to our manufacturing plants, third-party warehouses or customers, and warehouse to warehouse transfers.

In addition, supporting the day-to-day customs clearance requirements for Canadian related entries, as well as control tower reporting on key departmental performance metrics.

This role provides flexibility to work in a hybrid environment of home and our Markham Office.

**Responsibilities**:

- Identifying carrier partnerships, negotiating LTL/FTL rate agreements, maintain rate tables for all domestic freight to customer needs.
- Transportation analysis and planning, as well as tendering of all sales orders to customer with partnered carriers.
- Network analysis and understanding the various cost and lowest total delivered cost
- Carrier selection and performance monitoring.
- Customs entry reviews, duty claw backs, HS code analysis and verification.
- Invoice auditing and approval for payments.
- POD reconciliation.
- Reporting of KPI’s, cost per case, cost per region, cost per mile. Etc.
- RFPs on international Ocean Freight from Asia Pacific.
- Demurrage and Freight Penalty management.
- Manage Dole’s third-party transportation companies, carriers, and service providers
- Budget preparation for transportation cost including ongoing updating of current years estimated cost
- Regulatory compliance
- OS&D claims processing and management
- Evaluate and implement new transportation strategies that incorporate new technologies (where needed) and allow for improved service to customers with better reporting capabilities at a competitive cost.
- Other duties as assigned by the Senior and Associate Director of Supply Chain.

Qualifications:
Experience, Knowledge, & Skills You Bring:

- 5 to 7+ years transportation experience or significant experience in the entire supply chain process
- Solid working knowledge of managing high volume consumer goods (preferably food) manufacture to the retail, club, and food service industry.
- Skilled negotiator, with previous experience in negotiating rates and contracts.
- Familiar with the legal aspects of transportation
- Strong understanding of systems and processes related to transportation.
- Knowledge and experience in SAP
- Strong analytical abilities with ability to effectively communicate the project to win support.

Education & Certification:

- CITT, PLOG, CSCMP
- Customs Certification / Certified Customs Specialist
- Associate Degree in Business

Physical Requirements:

- Ability to sit and use the computer for extended periods of time; ability to answer phones and use a variety of office equipment; ability to lift 15 pounds and reach overhead.

Travel Requirements:

- Occasional travel required
