Job Summary
The Healthcare Staff Supervisor (LPN) will be responsible for ensuring that an exemplary level of customer service is being provided by Carecor’s healthcare providers at our contracted acute care facilities within Halifax and surrounding regions. A large part of the role will include on-site facility supervision, preceptorship and training of newly hired Carecor healthcare providers during their probationary period and on an ongoing basis.
The Healthcare Staff Supervisor will be the on-site liaison between our Nova Scotia clients’ Facility Charge Nurses, Clinical Educators and Carecor’s healthcare providers. The HCS Supervisor (LPN) will focus on the supervision of LPNs and unregulated care providers such as PSWs.

Status
- Full-Time, Permanent

Scheduled Hours
- 37.5 hours
- Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, hours may be flexible as required
- Shift work, including some evenings and weekends maybe required depending on healthcare provider schedule

Location
- Carecor Halifax Branch Office
- In-person work with 1-2 days remote work as required

Reports to
- Halifax Branch Director of Client Services

**Responsibilities**:

- Provide direct, on-site clinical observation, education support, and supervision of Carecor’s healthcare providers at our client Facility sites and for private clients located in our Facility hospitals
- Ensures that Carecor’s Vision, Mission and Value statement are demonstrated by our healthcare providers at our contracted facilities
- Follow up in a timely manner related to Facility Complaint/incident
- Develops and monitors educational improvement plan in conjunction with healthcare providers
- Verifies that healthcare providers are properly attired and professional in appearance and manner
- Seeks feedback about healthcare providers from facility Charge Nurse and Educators related to quality care, skills, professionalism
- Seeks feedback from Facility/Unit that healthcare providers have arrived on time and that they are taking the appropriate breaks
- Obtains on-site facility feedback data about Carecor healthcare providers
- Evaluates and provides verbal and written feedback to healthcare providers and documents in their personnel profile
- Completes probationary review for all new hires (depending on Branch needs)
- Completes annual healthcare provider performance reviews and engages branch region Director of Client Services (depending on Branch needs)
- Ensures that healthcare providers are providing care that is consistent with health and safety practices
- Contributes information related to Facility level profiles pertaining to healthcare provider skills required
- On call support for Clinical Emergencies on a rotating schedule
- Liaises with healthcare providers to obtain feedback on assignments, quality improvement and risk management issues and learning needs
- Provides orientation for employees and contracted healthcare providers as part of Carecor’s on-boarding process and updates the orientation content/process as required
- Assess training needs of new hires, based on Facility training requirements and learning needs identified by the healthcare provider (including Skills Checklist)
- Liaises with Carecor Recruiters and Staffing Office to identify facility training requirements for new hires
- Arranges and/or provides on-site facility orientation and training of new hires in collaboration with Carecor’s Staffing Office for any software training and/or clinical or technical skills
- Liaises with facility clinical educator and Charge Nurse to identify training required with the unit (e.g./ equipment, computerized charting and clinical procedures) for the Facility/unit and then trains healthcare providers
- Participates in organizing education initiatives of healthcare providers
- Resource for healthcare providers
- Participate in any of the following intermittent activities:

- Works one (1) shift each month in the clinical setting to ensure skills competency (depending on Branch requirements)
- Promotion of Carecor initiatives/program as required within the facility (i.e./, employee referral bonus program)
- Distributes appropriate healthcare information to Carecor health care staff during facility site visits (i.e./ hand hygiene information and audit survey)
- Participates as part of Accreditation Canada survey team for Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) team which includes chairing the IPAC Team Committee, completing the IPAC team survey, identifying gaps in service, outlining Key Performance Indicator
