**Job Overview**
The Wildlife Rehabilitation Technician plays a crucial role in the care and rehabilitation of injured, sick, or orphaned wildlife. This position involves hands-on work with various species, providing essential medical care, feeding, and support to ensure their successful recovery and reintroduction into their natural habitats. The technician will work closely with veterinarians and other wildlife professionals to implement treatment plans and maintain a safe environment for both animals and staff.
**Responsibilities**
- Assess the health and condition of wildlife brought in for rehabilitation.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by veterinarians.
- Prepare and provide appropriate diets for various species.
- Maintain clean and safe enclosures for animals under care.
- Monitor the progress of each animal, documenting changes in behavior or health.
- Assist in the release of rehabilitated wildlife back into their natural habitats.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure high standards of animal care.
- Operate farm machinery and power tools when necessary for facility maintenance.
- Utilize hand tools for repairs and construction of enclosures or habitats as needed.
**Requirements**:
- Previous experience in wildlife rehabilitation or a related field is preferred.
- Familiarity with farm machinery and power tools is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in using hand tools for various tasks related to animal care and facility upkeep.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with team members and volunteers.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as required by animal needs.
- A passion for wildlife conservation and a commitment to ethical treatment of animals.
- Sales experience is a plus, particularly in educating the public about wildlife issues.
