Both roles will liaise with Indigenous agencies, applicants, other departments, Committees of Council, and the public; prepare and present comprehensive planning reports; support policy development, provide guidance to Planning analysts, perform related work and respond to inquiries.
Qualifications include at minimum a bachelor's degree in urban or regional planning or related discipline and 5+ years of professional experience in community planning, development planning and urban design with eligibility for membership with the Canadian Institute of Planners. Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices, and objectives of urban planning, as well as municipal land use policy and provincial land use regulations as expected. Ability to synthesize large amounts of data and information for a range of audiences, both verbally and in a written or graphical manner. Ability to read and understand plans and drawings and work within tight time constraints and manage a heavy and diverse workload. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, professionals, and the public, and to transmit clearly the principles and requirements of sound planning and development.
As a requirement of the position, the successful applicant must hold a valid BC class 5 driver’s license and must provide a satisfactory driver’s abstract and a satisfactory Police Information Check prior to beginning employment.
