Take the next step in your career by joining the team at the Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo and grow your experience at one of the most unique sites in Calgary The Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo is seeking a **full-time, permanent Conservation Logistics Manager** to oversee and support the logístical needs of the Conservation and Science (C&S) department.

This role supports with staff and equipment resourcing for our national and international conservation field programs, as well as implementing efficiencies and improved processes for both field and workplace needs of Calgary and remotely based staff. This position is responsible for field program health & safety, and coordination for the successful development of partnership agreements. The Conservation Logistics Manager will report to the Associate Director, Conservation & Science Operations (CSO), and work collaboratively with team members across C&S and other operational areas.

**What you will do**:

- Lead a team of 4-5 conservation staff members, including field logistics, field technician, and intern positions to contribute to applied conservation activities. This role will be responsible for management of their direct reports, including hiring, directing workplans, approving timesheets, training and coaching, workload management, evaluations, and performance management.
- Provide strategic direction and management support to staff responsible for equipment and supply purchasing, maintenance, storage, and shared usage of key assets, including field vehicle needs, as well as the field visits of non-program staff.
- Identify and implement efficiencies in logístical operations of the C&S team's work, including field accommodations, travel, office space and IT needs, legal and administrative documentation.
- Manage budgets focused on conservation logistics and interns
- Serve as coordinator and primary editor for program partnership agreements, data sharing agreements, memoranda of understanding, grant agreements, service contracts, and associated budgets and reports. This involves working closely with the Associate Director CSO, Conservation Program
- Managers and Senior Managers, and teams in Finance, Development, and People & Culture to ensure timely review of documents and incorporating their edits and feedback.
- In collaboration with relevant C&S, Finance, and Development staff, provide content and reporting for grants and agreements as required
- Oversee health and safety needs of the Conservation & Science team, for Canadian and international field work, zoo offices, and remote workplaces, by implementing new and improved processes in close collaboration with the environmental health and safety, people & culture, facilities, and security teams.
- Serve as a project manager and/or contributor for specific logístical initiatives within conservation programs, especially when programs are going through major transitions.
- Allocate and prioritize staff support to conservation programs and department operational work as needed, in coordination with other C&S staff, especially with the Associate Director CSO and the Senior Managers of Conservation Programs.
- Support other departmental and organizational priorities as requested.

**What you will bring**:

- Bachelor of Science in related fields of study required; Masters Degree in Science or Business preferred
- 5 to 10 years experience of supporting both office and field-based logístical or operational needs
- Experience supervising/mentoring a staff team
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated experience collaboratively developing and sharing logístical processes
- Experience creating and managing budgets
- Understanding of the purposes and development process for partnership agreements, contracts and/or Memoranda of Understanding required, and experience writing or editing such agreements is preferred
- Project management experience (via training or practice) and associated tools is preferred
- Knowledge and/or experience in environmental field work is preferred
- Experience working in the conservation or non-profit sector is an asset but not required

**Working Conditions**:

- Able to work in fast-paced environment
- Heavy lifting, walking and standing for long periods of time required
- Must be flexible to work weekends, evenings, early mornings and holidays
