**What you can expect from this position**:
Reporting to the Airfield Maintenance Manager, Training, this position is responsible for identifying and developing new and improved processes, methods, systems, products or services. Understanding the full scope of work and projects within their areas of responsibility, including resources available and timelines, they will focus on improving operational efficiency, provide clear direction respectfully, identify the strengths and developmental opportunities of team members and serve as a role model.
**As role Technical Inspector, Health, Safety & Training, you will**:
- Conduct the research for, develops and maintains training materials for Airfield Operations and Airfield Maintenance mobile equipment resources
- Assist with the design of training packages in line with adult learning methodologies
- Be responsible for the delivery of Winter Airport Surface Maintenance Seasonal Specialist training curriculum for Years 1 to 3 including the supervision of new hires entering the program until assigned to crew, onboarding, facilitating appointments with Pass Control for Security Clearances, arranging for uniform sizing and ordering, AVOP training, ensuring mandatory/regulatory training is completed before crew assignment, monitoring practical hour requirements are met in assigned equipment tasks and providing input to the Airfield Maintenance Managers of Operations for probationary reports
- Provide mentoring and training for Airfield Maintenance staff including heavy equipment operation, lift trucks, new hire orientation, D/DA AVOP, surface repair techniques, radiotelephone operators restricted certificate, and snow removal.
- Facilitate D/DA AVOP testing for Airfield Maintenance Staff
- Conduct safety inspections on facilities and on-the-job work performance
- Create and maintain short-term plans for training and maintains records and databases to enable the provision of accurate information
- Analyze audits and training records to identify gaps and opportunities for improvements
- Create, co-ordinate and maintain training schedules in co-ordination with the needs and requirements of front line, technical and managerial staff
- Operate the Airfield Operations Coordination Center, assisting the MOAG in IRROPS snow events, including the monitoring of Netviewer, identifies calls requiring action as received from the AOCC Snow Desk, determines area impacted and priority, dispatches calls to relevant Supervisors and Technical Inspectors for action and utilizes CCTV cameras to verify airside surfaces and groundside roadways to confirm call validity for duplicate calls on similar issues
- Receive follow up communications from Technical Inspectors, Supervisors and Airport Surface Maintenance Specialists on completed calls and enters information into Netviewer to close calls
- Receive information from personnel on the airfield on equipment faults and relays to Fleet Maintenance for action
- Provide support during active snow
**This is the role for you, if you have**:
- Class D provincial license with Z airbrake endorsement and D AVOP required. Class ACZ license considered an asset
- Industry Canada authorized Aeronautical Radio License Trainer and Examiner considered an asset
- Forklift Trainer certification considered an asset
- Toronto Pearson Authorized D and D/A AVOP Trainer certification considered an asset
- Minimum 5 years’ airport movement area experience
- Minimum 5 years’ heavy equipment operations and/or road maintenance experience
- Minimum 1 year formal/informal training and mentoring experience
- Ability to obtain and retain Transportation Security Clearance at the designated level for the position
