Physician Navigator

**Overview**
The Physician Navigator works with Emergency Department physicians in an attempt to streamline and improve their workflow by removing non clinical tasks that physicians would normally perform while on shift. By assisting physicians in activities which are often clerical in nature, the physician navigator will:
1. Improve the quality of patient experience
2. Improve the efficiency of the physician
3. Improve communication between members of the health care team (physicians, nurses, clerks
& consultants)

Mental Demands
- Must understand appropriate “sequencing” of patient needswhile balancing physician workflow.
- Concentration required, listening and communicating effectively with internal and external clients to obtain information.
**Education**
- Completion of Grade 12 or recognized equivalent required.
- Enrollment in post-secondary education related to engineering or sciences preferred.
**Qualifications**
- Minimum of one (1) year related work experience required.
- Previous experience in a health care environment, specifically emergency services or urgent
care centers strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to compile, organize, and disseminate patient information to key patient
care staff to support the identification of and adherence to pay for results indicators preferred.
- A strong understanding of metrics and key quality indicators related to pay for results.
- Demonstrates superior organizational skills
- Good work and attendance record required
