Garden Shop Sales Associate

The High Country Garden Shop is in search of a full time sales associate for the summer landscaping season (Mid April to Mid October, weather depending). Our shop is located in the North end of Whistler, peacefully tucked away in the Spruce Grove area. We sell annual and perennial plant material, trees and shrubs, bagged and bulk soil and aggregates, landscape maintenance tools, and a variety of planters. The garden shop also facilitates the organization and care for plant material staged for landscape maintenance and construction projects by High Country Landscaping Ltd.

Highlights:

- constant interaction with a local residential and commercial customer base
- working with plant and organic material in a peaceful setting
- involves customer service, sales, maintenance, watering, weeding, tidying, deliveries
- entirety of shift is worked outside (Shop is also open air, outside)
- creative design in planter composition, product displays and signage

Customer Service is the priority in this position. We do our best to provide our customers with knowledgeable and reliable service with a friendly attitude.

Daily Tasks include but are not limited to; greeting and helping customers make informed decisions purchasing plant material, loading and unloading of plant and bulk material, maintaining a tidy and safe yard, planting, watering, and carrying out regular plant care at the shop and in the community, creating displays, operating point of sales, scheduling material deliveries, customer communication. A fun part of this job is guiding customers through creative design of hanging baskets, planters, and container design as well as creation and maintenance of annual arrangements at local business and residences around Whistler.

Applicants with customer service and sales experience, and/or a horticultural background are preferred. Other beneficial experience would be landscape maintenance, plant identification, professional or hobbyist gardener, and physical work in an outdoor environment. Applicants should be responsible, punctual, and be comfortable working outside for the entirety of their shift in all weather conditions.

We would prefer but do not require applicants to hold:

- High School Diploma
- Class 5 driver’s
- Basic First Aid and CPR-C

**Job Type**: Seasonal, Full-Time

Hourly Wage: Starting at $20.00

Schedule: Weekends and some weekdays, Mid
- April to October. Season length may vary depending on weather.
