**Your Contributions & Impact**:
As an ESW at the YWKW, you will offer ongoing support to meet the housing, financial, and life support needs of our clients, by:

- processing documentation and completing other related tasks to facilitate the intake and discharge process;
- advocating to secure housing help and processing referrals to longer-term community supports;
- providing support with basic life management skills such as assertive communication, goal setting, conflict de-escalation and resolution, problem solving, and managing change;
- providing support to those who are facing challenges including poverty, mental health, addictions, and social isolation;
- alerting emergency services as needed in times of crisis and completing appropriate follow up and documentation;
- assisting housekeeping with preparation of rooms/beds and cleaning of general areas and biohazardous materials as required;
- promoting a mutually supportive environment that emphasizes collaborative approaches and values the contributions of all team members and clients in the building.

**You have...**
- Experience working in a shelter or supportive housing setting or similar environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of competent social work documentation - case notes and log book entries.
- Knowledge of: effects of homelessness on individuals and families, harm reduction, and suicide intervention. Understanding of mental health and addiction issues, anti-oppression / anti-racism, and marginalized communities.
- Training certificates in crisis prevention and intervention (asset).
- Working knowledge of computer software programs and data entry such as Word and Excel.

**Mandatory Requirements**
- A two-year Diploma in Social Work or a related field.
- Up-to-date Vulnerable Sector Record Check
- Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Level-C certification
