**Infection Control Practitioner**

**Primary Role**:
CTMH Doctors Hospital (DH) is a multidisciplinary health care facility which provides support for a wide variety of Surgical and Medical specialties. At Doctors Hospital we strive to provide services with a constant caring touch. This individual has oversight over all infection prevention and control activities and guides the implementation of the hospital’s Infection Prevention and Control Program and ensures regulatory JCI Standards compliance within CTMH Doctors Hospital. The post holder will be a part of the Quality and Patient Safety (QPS) team and will participate in QPS initiatives beyond the scope of Infection Control, as required.

**General Responsibilities**:

- Develops and coordinates the infection prevention and control program throughout the facility. Implements the program by formulating, establishing and evaluating policies and procedures relating to patient care infection control measures throughout the facility.
- Provides information to hospital committees and department managers to formulate changes in the policies, procedures and/or processes which could reduce the spread of infection.
- Perform an annual assessment and develops actions plans form the prior year activities.
- Makes recommendations regarding construction, renovation, environmental rounds, and assures compliance with national and/or professional standards
- Act as the Chairperson of the Infection Control Committee and is responsible for the overall coordination of the IC program.
- Train staff on infection prevention and control protocols.
- Aggregates, analyzes and transforms infection control data into useful information to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Implements performance improvement work to support infection control practices and provides support and guidance to leadership and front-line staff to address outlier performance.
- Report results of data analysis to the Infection Control Committee Monitor and update all facility department supervisors on all area-specific policies and procedures important to infection prevention principles.
- Investigate all 'exposure incidents,' oversee post-exposure evaluation and follow-up process in order to recommend appropriate actions to be taken.
- Develop and provide in-service and orientation programs concerning prevention and control of infection, standard precautions, isolation techniques and education on current infectious disease.
- Inspect environment and observe personnel activities for the purpose of detecting infection hazards.
- Participate in Quality and Patient Safety Rounds.
- Other activities required.

**Educational Responsibilities**
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) or other registered Health Care Discipline.
- At least a minimum of 5 years of relevant acute-care hospital experience in Infection Control.
- Certification in Infection Control (CIC) required.
- Certification in Health Care Quality Management an asset, examples include CPHQ, CPHRM, and/or CPPS skills.

Pay: $7,100.00-$8,675.19 per month
