**Organization Information**:
YouthLink Calgary is a registered museum and an independent charitable organization that operates in partnership with the Calgary Police Service to deliver relevant and meaningful content to youth and adults. Our museum and programs engage visitors of all ages, with a focus on crime prevention, forensic science, and an emphasis on the history of our Calgary Police Service and its current role in our community. Our collections include records and artifacts dating back to the late 1890’s including photographs, negatives, administrative records, personnel files and over 10,000 objects used by the Calgary Police Service over the course of 100 years. Our Outreach team delivers educational presentations to students in grades 4-12, to parents, to community groups, and to our corporate partners.
**The Role**:
Reporting to the Outreach Programs Manager, the Outreach Program Facilitatorwill conduct community safety programs on guns and gangs, drugs, cyber safety, and other topics as required.
Collaborating closely with the Manager, the Facilitator will ensure quality community education, perform content research, and manage administrative tasks, including data collection (e.g., surveys, participant information). The Facilitator will also assist with outreach events such as community forums, summits and festivals.
**Job Duties**:
- Deliver in-person and virtual presentations on YouthLink's Community Safety programs such as Gangs, Drugs, Cyber Safety, CPS Resources, and crime prevention webinars (based on participant needs).
- This includes driving to various locations daily to conduct presentations.
- Presentations and special events may occur on weekdays, evenings and weekends to accommodate organizational schedules.
- Create presentations, handouts and comprehensive material that will be delivered to the community.
- Conduct research in areas such as crime prevention, community development, mental health, diversity, inclusion and best practices in effort to add complexity and dimension of program delivery.
- Assist in building connections with Calgary residents and organizations, such to provide them with a clear insight into the complexity of Calgary Police Service’s.
- Represent YouthLink at public events.
- Perform administrative tasks such as supporting the Outreach Manager in coordinating and scheduling program delivery, organizing and preparing program material.
- Gather data for program reports. This will include passing out surveys, compiling survey data and stats, collecting numbers on how many individuals are attending the events, collecting impact stories and documenting the interactions and conversations with community members.
- Occasional will need to step into a program facilitator role at the museum when needed.
- Collaborate with the Facilitator Team, Visitor Experience Team, and CPS members to update and refine Community Safety Programs. This involves research, lesson plan updates, and creating other educational activities.
- Assist in planning, setup, execution, and teardown of special events and program presentation space, which could be scheduled for evenings or weekends.
- Cultivate, sustain, and enhance positive working relationships among YouthLink, CPS, Schools, and various community organizations.
**Qualifications**:
- Post-secondary degree in a relevant field of education such as criminal justice, education, social sciences, human services or social work.
- A valid driver's license and a dependable vehicle in required.
- Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
- A keen interest to work with youth and the community. Previous work with youth program delivery and vulnerable youth would be considered an asset.
- Experience with program development.
- Interpersonal skills: effective communication (verbal and written); non-judgmental listening skills; ability to deal with people from diverse backgrounds and identities.
- Ability to take initiative and work independently.
- Excellent organization, planning and time management skills.
- Flexibility and problem-solving skills: must be able to adapt and solve problems/make decisions quickly and effectively.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR or willingness to become certified.
**Additional Information**
- This is a full-time position working **35-hour work week**, from Monday to Friday. The Facilitator may be asked to work weekends and evenings on occasion and may be asked to attend external presentations and events.
- A CPS enhanced security clearance is a condition of employment for this position.
