Piping Estimator Project Coordinator

Songer Canada Ltd. Was established in 2011 as a Canadian Branch to Songer Services. A leader in the steel Construction Industry. We are multi-trade Industrial constructor servicing the Hamilton and Niagara area.

The company is headquartered in Washington PA, and maintains an office in Hamilton, Ontario.

The **Hamilton, Ontario **office is looking for hardworking, detail-oriented **Piping Estimator** to join the Estimation team.

**SUMMARY OF THE ROLE**:
Responsible for pricing and pre-construction phases of piping projects. Provide construction support services as required to meet project needs. Coordinate pricing with subcontractors and other project trades. To administer, negotiate and analyze the various stages of construction.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Review client bid packages to determine resources required to complete request for quotations
- Coordinate estimates between trades involved, ensuring tender scope is being fully accounted for in the most cost efficient manner
- Review bid documents and determine which subcontractors need to be involved in the completion of the bid
- Prepare detailed bid packages/scopes of work for applicable trades and subcontractors for their use in preparing supporting quotations
- Assemble pricing while evaluating proposals from multiple sources
- Assess cost of rentals, tools, equipment, non-productive labour and determine average labour rate
- Coordinate tender proposal requirements, including but not limited to:

- review of terms and conditions
- bonding and insurance requirements
- tender breakdown requirements
- organization charts and resumes
- company experience
- craft rates and mark-ups for additional work
- preliminary schedules
- execution plans
- Upon completion of an estimate, prior to submitting to the customer, review with the Division Manager the following items as a minimum:

- labour efficiencies and productivity related issues
- indirect labour requirements
- construction equipment requirements
- overhead and profit levels
- Prepare material takeoff
- Participate in post-tender activities, such as:

- coordination of sales effort and follow up
- tender review meeting
- tender negotiations
- project initiation activities
- project support for awarded contracts
- Attend kick off meetings, as required
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge and awareness of current market conditions affecting the cost of construction
- Maintains knowledge of applicable ASME codes, contract laws and obligations, material specifications, scheduling and regional variations affecting the supply of labour, materials and modern construction methods
- Ensures responsibilities and accountabilities are carried out in a safe manner in accordance with Songer Canada Ltd. Environmental Health and Safety Management Program and OHSA requirements
- Understanding for TSSA requirements and regulations for projects and related costs

**KNOWLEDGE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS**:

- College degree or diploma in a technical discipline or equivalent construction industry piping trade experience
- Up to 5 years of piping estimating in Industrial, Commercial, Institutional industries
- Construction Estimator Certified or enrolled in the Gold Seal Estimator Certification program (C.C.A.) is an asset

**SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS**:

- Utilizing computer software to complete estimates
- Knowledge of multi-trade disciplines

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 40 per week

**Salary**: $70,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
