Payroll & HR Assistant

**Job Summary**
As the Payroll and HR Assistant, you will provide day-to-day support for Payroll, Benefits & HR. For this role, we need someone who is detail-oriented and excited about getting involved in a wide variety of Human Resources activities. This role is essential in ensuring that our Payroll and HR operations run smoothly and efficiently, contributing to a positive workplace environment.
**Duties**
- Administration of bi-weekly payroll.
- Provide support to the Director of Human Resources.
- Assist in day to day operations of HR functions and duties.
- Verification of time entry and other payroll information from supervisors.
- Enter employee data for appropriate documentation and tracking in HR software, payroll software, and other tools used to track and review.
- Enter employee data for group benefits and pension plan, including enrollments, changes, terminations.
- Assist in preparation of T-4 slips and other year-end processes.
- Complete terminations and process ROE’s, benefit terminations and transfers, and other employee personnel termination steps.
- Review new hire entries into payroll system and verify source documents.
- The ability to communicate effectively and work with various individuals and departments.
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
- Demonstrate a high level of organizational, administrative and problem solving skills.
- Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality when working with sensitive information.
- Assist in organizing training sessions and employee engagement activities.
**Experience**
- 2+ years experience in payroll administration.
- Proven experience as an HR Assistant or relevant human resources/administrative position.
- Proficient with Office 365 (Teams, Word, Excel etc.)
- Knowledge and understanding of payroll principles, practices, procedures and provincial and federal laws.
- Ability to communicate effectively (both verbal and written).
