**Position**:Banquet Captain

**Status**:Part-time, about 20 hours/weekly

**Shifts**: Varied as per seasonal operations including weekends, stat holidays, mornings, mid-day, evenings

**Responsibilities**:

- Works with Food & Beverage Manager(s) reviewing all Banquet Event Orders (BEO) for the day and set forth an agenda on how best to carry out his/her shift by allocating staff to specific tasks and ensure the efficient operation of events
- Plan and executes the room set-up and service of banquet events, meetings, and functions
- Communicate all relevant information with other departments as needed
- Function and meeting room details are checked thoroughly to ensure set-up and Food & Beverage requirements are accurate as per BEO. Ensure room preparation are completed on a timely basis before guest arrival
- Meet and greet all clients before event commences, review BEO with client and ensure that all guest requests are met with the utmost prompt, professional and courteous service
- Complete Banquet Pass on procedures daily to communicate any important information on the day’s events and regarding future events or any specifics that guests have requested
- Conduct daily pre-shift briefings (am & pm) to include information on the day’s events, staff allocation of tasks, other relevant Hotel, HR, and health & safety information
- Organize and plan ahead to assist the next shift whenever possible
- Ensure all local liquor laws and regulation are being followed during events
- Make sure that all meeting rooms are secure and all storage rooms are kept neat, tidy and clean
- Ensure the Hotels assets (cutlery, glassware, furniture etc) and the meeting rooms are maintained properly and any deficiencies reported and followed up on
- Performs other tasks assigned by management

**Qualifications**:

- A minimum of 2 years previous experience in banquets, catering, or in another similar capacity
- **Flexible availability to work a variety of shifts seasonally ranging from early AM’s to late evenings**:

- Valid Serving It Right Certificate
- Professional and polished appearance
- Strong problem solving skills
- Can do physical work, including the ability to comfortably lift 50 lbs.
- Must be a self-starter and be able to take initiative
- Proven time management skills
- Be able to effectively manage and work well with others
- Must be well organized and efficient; and enjoy a multi-tasked environment
- Ability to communicate effectively with associates, clients, and guests
- Enthusiastic “can do” attitude

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: $20.50-$22.28 per hour

**Experience**:

- Banquet catering: 1 year (preferred)
