Support Assistance in Ajax

We are a family living in Ajax, looking for a personable, positive, thoughtful and flexible Support Assistant to support and engage my 8 year old daughter in meaningful ways for 3 hours after school two times per week and for 7 hours every other Saturday. My daughter is ready to learn new things and I’m looking for someone to support her in expanding communication, exploring interests, and assisting with personal care while encouraging her and listening deeply so that she can guide the energy flow of each visit.

**Areas of Responsibility**:

- Organize and plan your dedicated time with my daughter in ways that are congruent with her interests
- Keep time together interesting to encourage engagement in activities
- Support and assist with daily mobility exercises
- Reinforce communication, learning, and growth by acknowledging non-verbal cues
- Recognize signs of distress to encourage self-regulation and maintain safety
- Perform activities of daily living and implement strategies that promote mastery of personal care
- Assist with feeding, bathing and preparing for bedtime
- Maintain environmental health & safety
- Housekeeping/tidying as required to ensure environment remains hygienic and neat after playtime
- Contribute toward maintaining a positive environment that encourages progress by working effectively with our family

**Key Requirements**:

- Previous experience as a support worker
- Previous experience providing personal care and working with children with developmental disabilities
- Completion of Vulnerable Sector Police Check
- Valid G driver’s license

**Required Availability**:
4pm-7pm (2x per week Mon-Thur)

10am - 5pm (every other Sat)

**Rate of Pay**: $22/hr

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 13 per week

Schedule:

- Evening shift
- Weekends as needed

**Experience**:

- Support Worker: 1 year (required)
- working with children with developmental disabilites: 1 year (required)

Licence/Certification:

- Class G Licence (required)
- Vulnerable Sector Police Check (required)
