**Program/Department Summary**
The Intake Department coordinates activities for the Jean Tweed Centre’s (JTC) Intake & Support and Stabilization Programs, and provides both direct and indirect services to clients. This includes assessment, group facilitation, case management, coordination of activities within the department, participation in the planning, development and evaluation of the department programs. The Intensive Online Program (IOP) is a 3-week Intensive Online Program that offers women across Ontario accessible, choice-based online support for substance use recovery in an environment where their needs are understood. It includes workshops, group discussions, one-on-one counseling, at-home practice, and covers topics like self-esteem, healthy relationships, managing emotions, effective communication, heath and wellness, safe coping skills, parenting, grief and loss, and trauma. The Art Expression Program is a workshop series designed to foster resilience, enhance coping strategies, emotional regulation and increase self-esteem for participants using art as a technique to offset the impacts of substance use, cope with isolation, and build connections with themselves and their peers.
**Position Purpose**
The Counsellor, Intake, IOP & Art Expression provides support to access to a continuum of services including engagement, assessment, stabilization, and treatment matching for program participants and clients. The role acts as a continuous resource for clients and offers direct support to women in the Intensive Online Program, Art Expression and Intake programs.
**Responsibilities**
**Service**
▪ Provide support for conducting assessments and treatment matching for clients to IOP and other services and supports.
Provide support as resource person for intake, Art Expression and IOP programs (including overseeing inventory and supplies for Art Expression & IOP).
▪ Assist with external outreach for IOP program and engage community partners.
▪ Assist with creating and maintaining client and registration lists/forms.
▪ Assist with client registration and introduction/setup into each program cycle.
▪ Provide support for client evaluation activities for programs, and special projects where applicable (eg program surveys).
▪ Provide support across teams to enhance continuity and quality of care.
▪ Collaborate with supervisor to discuss job performance and establish professional goals.
▪ Ensure maintenance of documentation, including discharge summaries and clinical notes.
▪ Engage in ongoing staff development and personal learning as agreed to in performance reviews.
▪ Recommend, participate in the development of and implementation of policies and procedures within the department.
▪ Represent the Jean Tweed Centre in the community.
▪ Establish collaborative relationships with community partners and stakeholders as appropriate to further the Centre’s mission.
▪ Monitor the safety, health and well-being of the clients under the program care.

▪ Abide by the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and work in a manner that is safe, reporting incidents immediately to direct supervisor.
▪ Adhere to the policies and procedures of The Jean Tweed Centre.
▪ Perform other duties as assigned in order to meet the overall goals and objectives of The Jean Tweed Centre.
▪ Maintain a client service orientation including learning about/addressing client needs and concerns.
▪ Work collaboratively including respect others, sharing information, consulting and celebrating shared successes.
▪ Demonstrate accountability by holding self responsible and following through on commitments.
▪ Support inclusion and equity by respecting others, embracing diversity and addressing oppression.
**Qualifications**

▪ Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or relevant field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
▪ Previous experience in case management and conducting comprehensive assessments.
▪ Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in related field.
▪ Approach to leadership consistent with organizational values.
▪ Knowledge and understanding of women’s issues, particularly as they relate to women with substance use, mental health and/or gambling concerns.
▪ Excellent decision-making, problem-solving and conflict/crisis management skills.
▪ Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive and collaborative working relationships with individuals and teams.
▪ Strong organizational and time management skills.
▪ Strong computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
