**Community Wellness Support Worker**

**Regular Full Time**

The Community Wellness Support Worker provides in-home and community-based support to TFN members, primarily within a 24-hour second-stage supportive home. This role also contributes to TFN’s broader wellness strategy through participation in outreach, workshops, and wellness programming.

Staff work 12-hour rotating shifts to ensure continuous coverage of the home. When the home is unoccupied or during scheduled community programming hours, the Support Worker participates in wellness initiatives that may include cultural activities, harm reduction education and life skills.

This position is grounded in trauma-informed, culturally safe practice and promotes connection, independence, and holistic wellness.

**Key Responsibilities**

**Residential Support (When Home is Occupied)**
- Provide in-home support, mentorship, and culturally respectful care for men in second-stage housing
- Support daily routines, life skills, and emotional well-being through respectful, non-judgmental interactions
- Maintain safety and cleanliness in the home, including light housekeeping duties and meal preparation
- Encourage residents to engage with TFN programs, cultural supports, and community resources
- Provide support using a non-judgmental, person-centered approach that aligns with harm reduction principles and meets individuals where they are at in their wellness journey.

**Community Wellness Support (Ongoing)**
- Support workshops, wellness groups, outreach events, and land-based activities
- Help create safe and welcoming spaces for community members to connect and heal
- Build positive relationships with individuals who may be navigating transitions such as recovery, reintegration, or housing changes
- Assist with logístical tasks such as setup, facilitation support, and transportation as needed

**F**lexibility Across Programs**
- Adjust between residential and community duties based on occupancy and wellness program needs
- Actively contribute to wellness efforts during shifts regardless of home occupancy

**Safety, Reporting & Documentation**
- Complete shift logs, incident reports, and documentation in accordance with TFN policy
- Report safety concerns or program needs to the Supervisor of Community Wellness
- Uphold house agreements and respond to conflict or crisis situations using de-escalation skills
- Participate in team meetings, debriefings, and professional development

**Performance Indicators**
- Safe, supportive housing environment maintained
- Effective participation in wellness programs and outreach activities
- Positive relationships built with residents and community members
- Reliable shift coverage and clear, professional documentation
- Use of trauma-informed, culturally safe approaches in all interactions

**Qualifications**
- Diploma in Social Services, Indigenous Wellness, Mental Health & Addictions, or equivalent experience
- 2+ years working in supportive housing, recovery, outreach, or wellness services
- Strong understanding of Indigenous healing approaches, intergenerational trauma, and harm reduction
- Lived experience in healing or recovery is considered an asset
- Excellent communication, boundary-setting, and teamwork skills
- Facilitation skills considered an asset
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and reliable transportation
- First Aid, Food Safe, and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (or willingness to obtain)
- Enhanced Criminal Record Check required

**Working Conditions**
- This role is required to work variable shifts which may include days, evenings & weekends.
- Role starts with 12-hour rotating shifts, including overnights, weekends, and holidays
- Community-based and residential settings depending on program needs
- Physical activity including light housekeeping, errands, and outdoor engagement
- Emotional resilience required to support clients with diverse lived experiences

**Wages**

Pay scale for this position is $27.00 - $32.00 per hour with excellent benefits including enrolment in the BC Municipal Pension Plan. Placement within the pay scale is based on a review of skills, experience & internal equity.
