Assistant Group Leader

Hayashi Canada, located in Stratford Ontario, is looking to hire an Assistant Group Leader for our Production Team. We are a Japanese automotive parts manufacturer that supplies interior acoustical products.

**Major Responsibilities**
- Willing to work bi-weekly rotating shifts (Days/Afternoons). Some flexibility in the case of rare overtime or emergency support scenarios.
- Strong leadership and team building skills combined with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Promote/ensure company policies and procedures are followed
- Promotion of quality and production targets through 5WHY activity, etc.
- Communicate and drive Team expectations through defined targets (OEE/Scrap/Rework/etc.)
- Support with daily scheduling and inventory control to ensure production and delivery targets are met
- Participate and coordinate new program activity to ensure successful program launches
- Support with Team Leader development to help facilitate work centre training, communication, and objectives
- Promote and evaluate work standards and production key activities (shift start/breaks/end of shift) with the Production team
- Perform safety investigations in conjunction with Production Leader/HR to identify the root cause, and track corrective actions to completion to ensure hazards are corrected in a timely manner
- Support with daily & weekly production reports

**Skills, Competencies & Experience**:

- 1 to 3 years experience in a Japanese Manufacturing environment (preferred), along with leadership experience to support shift management.
- Confident to work independently
- Intermediate computer skills using MS office products with an emphasis on Excel, as well as effective analysis of production trends and reports
- Understands the importance of lean manufacturing systems balanced with high safety standards and continuous improvement
- Effective leadership skills with strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence
- Strong understanding of regulated labour policies and the importance of audits, check sheets, standards, and training
- Strategic and critical thinker
- Liaison with other departments to continuously promote a successful process (i.e.. PC/Maintenance/HR/Quality).
- Communicate with the documentation specialists regarding production-based projects
- Ability to proactively work to reduce/eliminate rework, scrap, downtime and perform root cause analysis.

**Education**
- High school diploma or GED equivalent. Post-secondary preferred
- First Aid/CPR certified is an asset
