Head Custodian Afternoon

ONE POSITION FOR MILLSTREAM ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

FORTY HOURS PER WEEK. ( Mon-Fri, 2:00 PM -10:00 PM)

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
Minimum of three years custodial experience with 1000 hours of accumulated experience as a Head Custodian with School District No. 62

Extensive knowledge of materials, chemicals, methods and equipment used in commercial cleaning environments.

Completion of grade twelve.

Proven experience performing a full summer clean of a school.

Individual is a self-starter with demonstrated ability to successfully fulfill assigned responsibilities, often while adapting to changes in the workplace.

Possesses strong organizational skills and works efficiently without direct supervision.

Ability to effectively work and communicate well with other people

Good health in order to perform a variety of assigned tasks including the lifting of medium to heavy loads.

Ability to work overhead, at heights and/or working on a 6ft ladder.

A basic knowledge of the schools’ fire and intruder alarm systems.

Ability to supervise & train Custodial staff.

**RESPONSIBLE TO**: Manager of Operations

**SUPERVISES**: Other custodians in school; including day shift if applicable.

**JOB GOAL**: To provide students & staff with a safe, attractive, comfortable and clean environment in which to work and/or learn, play and develop.

**PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Responsible for keeping interior of building and exterior main entranceways (10ft) neat and clean during working hours.

Under approval by Manager of Operations determines custodial task lists and work sections in assigned school for the purpose of obtaining satisfactory standards of cleanliness and efficient operating procedure

Assess and report any issues relating to alarm systems.

Keeps floors clean via sweeping, mopping, vacuuming and in a good state of preservation

Scrubs, mops and disinfects washrooms, cleans all sanitary fixtures, drinking fountains, and replenishes washroom supplies daily.

Washes and/or sanitizes District desks & tabletops daily.

Washes windows & glass partitions.

Washes walls, doors, shelves and other surfaces as required.

Cleans all white & chalk board rails and performs high dusting as required.

Reports all repairs and damages of school property promptly to appropriate Facilities contact.

Admits people using school facilities after school hours and inspects the area used to ensure that the facilities have been left in good condition.

Moves & adjusts District chairs, desks and tables within building as required as time permits. Significant or heavier moves require workorder submitted for Maintenance assistance

Empties and cleans garbage & recycling receptacles within building.

Requisitions necessary custodial supplies and equipment for assigned school.

Maintains custodial related equipment and ensures its safe use. Keeps custodial cart, equipment and custodial storage rooms always organized and clean.

Shovels and applies salt to exterior main entranceways (10ft) as required during regular working hours.

Provides training to Custodial staff as necessary, and provides written reports for Manager of Operations, when requested.

Investigates custodial related complaints at assigned school and reports them to the Manager of Operations.

Changes interior and exterior lights as can be reasonably reached with a six-foot ladder and lowers flag as required.

Fosters a harmonious work environment within a team atmosphere.

Performs other related duties as time permits and/or assigned.

**TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT**:
Twelve month year. May be required to perform other duties during July and August.

RATE OF PAY AS PER THE COLLECTIVE AGREEMENT.

DUTIES TO COMMENCE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE AND WILL CONCLUDE UPON THE RETURN OF THE INCUMBENT OR UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTIFIED BY THE HUMAN RESOURCES DEPARTMENT.
