**JOB POSTING** **BC Schizophrenia Society** **Digital Communications Specialist** **Full Time** The British Columbia Schizophrenia Society (BCSS) has a vision where those affected by schizophrenia and other serious mental illness receive effective treatment and support, and family members are an essential partner within the mental health system. Our mission is to support families affected by schizophrenia and other serious mental illness in British Columbia through education advocacy and research. BCSS was founded in 1982 and is a charitable society with a provincial office located in Vancouver, BC. **Digital Communication Specialist Position** The Digital Communications Specialist is responsible for the strategic direction and implementation of the BCSS online and social media accounts. They will work closely with the Marketing and Communications Manager and with the Director, Operations and Programs to support the growth and evolution of BCSS social media and other digital platforms. The Digital Communications Specialist will engage with BCSS stakeholders (i.e., families, volunteers, Board members, staff, health authorities and government officials, etc.) and will ensure BCSS messaging reaches new audiences. Position reports to: Marketing and Communications Manager **Responsibilities**: - Digital Development_ - Coordinate and develop a digital communication plan to support BCSS in meeting its strategic and communication goals; including an evaluation process for tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) - Create and implement a social media strategy to promote and engage people with BCSS’ programs, fundraising, advocacy, research, and mental health literacy initiatives - Manage, develop, and deploy content across various digital platforms (i.e., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Google Ads, Mailchimp, etc.) - Extend the scope and impact of the BCSS digital platforms within the mental health community, including with BCSS boards, health authorities and government ministries - Manage, update, and maintain all websites related to BC Schizophrenia Society and the BC Schizophrenia Society Foundation - Build and maintain strong relationships with provincial team and community partners - Identify areas of growth for the website and social media (e.g., engaging new people or education) - Support the creation and promotion of the BCSS podcast “Look Again: Mental Illness Re-Examined" - Develop and revise data collections to best show BCSS’ impact through our social media and digital platforms - _Communications_ - Share and promote BC Partners materials on all digital platforms - Respond to inquiries through social media channels in a timely manner - Ensure brand standards and BCSS identity are maintained across all digital platforms - Train and provide support with BCSS social media for staff, volunteers, etc. - Write blog posts about mental illness, BCSS events, or other related organization news - Other_ - Follow all BCSS policies and procedures to ensure safety and risk management - Other applicable duties as requested by the Director, Operations and Programs or CEO - Expected to attend the AGM and any other societal or staff meetings as required **Education and Experience**: - 3-5 years of experience in digital marketing, including social media management and website management or related experience - Post-secondary degree or diploma required in a related field (marketing, communications, digital marketing, public relations, etc.) - Experience with social media management tools - Experience writing content for social media, blog posts, newsletters, and other channels - Knowledge of best practices with social media, SEO knowledge and other digital platforms - Familiarity with, WordPress, Adobe CS, HTML, CSS, SQL etc. - Experience engaging and building community partnerships through digital platforms - Knowledge of mental illness and its impact on family members - Knowledge of the BC mental health system and resources for families is an asset - Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, Canva, and Zoom **Core Competencies**: - A creative thinker - Attention to detail and time management skills - Ability to take initiative - Excellent administrative and organizational skills - Demonstrated critical thinking/problem solving skills - Ability to work well under pressure with deadlines - Capable of managing multiple ongoing projects - Ability to work independently and collaboratively - Strong written and verbal communication skills This position includes extended healthcare benefits, RRSP matching and annual vacation. **To Apply**: Please send a cover letter and resume together in a PDF.
