**CRITERIA FOR AN INTERVIEW ARE AS FOLLOWS**:
A Masters degree in education or related discipline from a recognized university

Minimum five (5) years of related experience, predominantly in an education environment

Post graduate studies or equivalent field expertise in Autism Spectrum Disorders, including training in Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), Functional Behaviour Assessment and other evidence based approaches

Extensive experience in working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD)

Extensive experience in supervision of interdisciplinary team staff (Autism Support Teachers, Psychologists/Psychological

Demonstrated experience with research, program evaluation, and in providing/or facilitating student (with ASD) learning

Proven strong communication skills in sensitive and complex situations

Proven ability in problem solving, organizational and coordinating skills

Knowledge of Ministry of Education requirements in Special Education and Autism specific areas, including programming, assessment, evaluation, IEP, IPRC, etc.

Must possess a valid driver’s license and car for travel as required within the Greater Toronto Area (eligibility for mileage reimbursement)

**MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Reporting to and under the direction of the Superintendent of Special Services, the primary function of this position is to oversee the management and delivery of the Autism programs and services in accordance with the Ministry of Education requirements/directives and TCDSB policies and guidelines. Duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:
Oversee/lead the central Autism Team (Autism Support Teachers, Psychologists/ Psychological Associates/Psychoeducational Consultants, Social Workers, Speech-Language Pathologists; Child and Youth Workers, Education Assistants and BCBA’s) to ensure services are delivered in response to student and school needs (including crisis response)

Provide direction, consultation and coordination to the team in the:
operation of the Program to Assist Social Thinking (PAST) and Autism Intensive Support Programs in various schools locations

implementation of Connections for Students initiative in compliance with Ministry requirements, and in collaboration of MCYS agencies

implementation of transition planning initiatives (elementary to secondary and post-secondary) in collaboration with schools and community agencies

implementation of Autism specific staff training, in compliance with Ministry directives, including PPM140 and requirements from the Auditor General

Prepare report to the Ministry of Education on implementation of Autism Programs and Services through annual reporting of PPM 140 and EPO requirements

Work collaboratively with all stakeholders (Senior Staff, Principals, Parents, TCDSB departments, contract employee groups, external agencies and the Ministry of Education, etc.) in the implementation of Autism related supports; programs; initiatives; professional development; reports; policies and guidelines

Work in collaboration with the other Special Services Chiefs to support the Special Services Action Plan commitments
