**Underwriting Analyst - (Accident & Sickness)**:
**Location: Remote - Ontario**

Empire life is looking to hire an Underwriting Analyst - Sickness and Accident to join our Group Operations team

**What you’ll be working on**Provides basic risk assessments and related support to Empire Life, Sickness and Accident benefits including the ability to determine rating, exclusions or policy amendments.
- Ensures effective decision-making and communications by team members by providing consistent and strong leadership
- Communicate information to clients, advisors and third parties regarding underwriting evidence and decisions
- Inputs data on internal administration systems
- Support the underwriting department by providing administrative services
- Investigate and work with multiple vendors and appropriate experts regarding fee approvals to determine solutions to ensure effective cost management of doctor reports, medical exams and lab tests
- Respond to inquiries and requests and provides solutions and recommendations to Group Operations and Customer Service Representatives
- Act as a training/functional resource for team members
- Continually review and improve internal business processes on an on-going basis; implement operational changes as required and maintain appropriate documented procedures.
- Participate in a variety of projects & initiatives (system changes and testing, vendor surveys, department and Corporate projects)

**What we’re looking for you to have**:
- Completion of a university degree in anatomy, biology, kinesiology, life sciences or psychology
- 3+ years work experience managing accident & sickness benefits
- Knowledge of individual disability products and medical terminology
- Ability to prioritize/adapt and balance multiple tasks and attention to detail/accuracy
- Customer focus, service orientation
- Well-developed written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as a collaborative team member
- Ability to research, analyze, evaluate, negotiate, make decisions and resolve problems
