In this role, you will investigate and/or resolve complaints with respect to the practise, conduct or capacity of physicians and surgeons in Ontario. As part of the investigative process, you will identify, obtain and analyze relevant information and documents, including hospital and office records, reports, statements, and transcripts. You will conduct interviews and take statements from parties and witnesses and explain College policies to all parties as required. Adaptability, flexibility and being comfortable working in a high-volume work environment will be invaluable to you in this role. You are a solid team player.

You will maintain communication with relevant parties and legal counsel throughout the investigative process and assess complaints for resolution when appropriate delivering investigative reports both verbally and in writing to committees and colleagues.

**1-Year Contract Position(s)**

**Qualifications**
- Different investigative teams have different areas of focus. Qualifications may vary across teams however some qualifications are required notwithstanding the team._

A regulated professional with a university degree in a related field, such as **Nursing** and/or Social Work and a minimum of three (3) years of professional experience, e.g., BScN; MSW; MScPT, etc.
- ** Must have healthcare systems background; experience working in healthcare clinics, and/or healthcare community facilities**:

- Experience in mental health (both in-and-out patients)
- Strong analytical skills and an aptitude toward critical thinking are crucial
- Able to conduct interviews and document findings
- Demonstrated ability to navigate difficult, intense, and emotional conversations and diffuse tense situations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience with formal report writing
- Self-directed with ability to manage complex and competing priorities and respond to unique situations as they arise
- Must have strong e-literacy skills
- Able to occasionally travel throughout Ontario

The following are considered a strong asset:

- Focus/expertise in any of the following: forensic/ psychiatric care, obstetrics, mental health (particularly addiction and trauma), ER/ICU, OR; risk management, etc.
- French language (both written/spoken) valued but not mandatory
- Conflict resolution/ADR/mediation skills
- Familiarity with quality principles and strategies
- Working knowledge of RHPA
- Equity/diversity/inclusion training would be an asset

Note: It is a fundamental requirement of employment at CPSO that employees reside in Ontario and can attend the College office as required. Must be able to provide proof of double vaccination.
