Reporting to the Manager, Regulatory, Policy & Business Process, the position is responsible to develop standards and system procedures based on established business processes and policies. The position also interfaces with Regulatory, Commercial and Operations Engineering Teams to develop and improve Cargo products. Responsible to provide system field support regarding, Security, Live Animals, Perishables, Dangerous Goods and other Special handling Cargo. The position represents the Cargo Branch on ad-hoc corporate initiatives as well as industry working groups.
**Key Functions**:
Activities and key accountabilities, including:
- Responsible for standards and procedures management for the Cargo branch
- Design and validate corporate standards and procedures for the carriage and handling of Cargo products and solutions
- Develop, maintain, issue and assist in the distribution of Cargo publications 178
- Responsible to establish, promote and provide system field support on Cargo standards and procedures
- Liaise with Training and Development to maintain accurate cargo training expectations in accordance with SOPs
- Partner with business units to set and review quality standards and identify quality performance measures, targets and tolerances
- Act as an internal consultant to formulate and recommend policies for the specialized areas towards establishing a common approach and regulatory compliance
- Manage, develop and maintain procedural communications
- Develop and issue embargoes
- Develop and issue Air Canada Cargo procedural bulletins
- Provide direction for the development of new forms
- Manage and Initiate Cargo Legacy system enhancements
- Participate in testing of product changes to Cargo Legacy system as they pertain to procedures
- Maintain and update AC Aeronet information for Cargo Operations
- Issue Cargo policy changes on the carriage and handling of Perishables, Live Animals, Valuables, Compassionate and other Special Handling Cargo
- Provide expertise and operational support on all Cargo products and solutions
- Conduct Cargo operational compliance and safety audits
- Represent Air Canada Cargo on ad-hoc corporate initiatives
**Qualifications**
- University or college diploma preferred with emphasis on management training
- Communicate effectively in both written and verbal
- Be action oriented
- 3 -5 years in airline Operations experience an asset
- Six Sigma green belt training or equivalent an asset
- Project Management Certificate (or equivalent) and credentials / accreditation in Quality Management (ASQ, CQMgr) or equivalent an asset.
- At least 5 years operational experience with a Canadian Air Operator in the function of airports, cargo or security
- Must demonstrate significant achievements in specific quality areas and/or issues; proven superior interpersonal skills, writing skills and leadership capabilities;
- Strong capabilities in Microsoft 365
