Electrical Team Leader

We are looking for a Team Leader, Electrical to support our Real Property Planning and Management Branch. The Team Leader, Electrical would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.
The Real Property Planning and Management (RPPM) is responsible for operations and maintenance of approximately 65 facilities in the National Capital Region supporting research and development activities in a campus environment.
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Team Leader supports the continuing success and improvement of day-to-day operations by demonstrating leadership and coaching of a Skilled Trades' team, to achieve the Branch’s objectives and accomplish operational planning targets while ensuring all work is conducted safely with the observance of personal and relevant safety regulations.
Our team leader is expected to display excellent interpersonal skills to build quality relationships with the team and with customers, be goal-driven, and manage the day-to-day activities of the team efficiently. The team leader is responsible for supervising, managing and motivating team members on a daily basis.
The incumbent Team Lead also need to be flexible and adaptable as the focus of their duties may vary from time to time, including flexible start times when special projects are in progress.

**Education**:
Secondary School Diploma according to provincial standards.
A valid Ontario certificate of qualifications as an Industrial Maintenance Electrician (442A) or Construction and Maintenance Electrician (309A) or an equivalent inter-provincial Red Seal Journeymen’s Certificate of Qualification.

- Working at Heights

- Confined Space
- Designated Substances Awareness
- CFAA - Canadian Fire Alarm Association
- First Aid Level 1

**Experience**:
- Significant experience providing first-line supervision, technical assistance and training to a team of journey-level maintenance staff,
- Significant experience making sound and timely decisions and managing conflicting priorities.
- Significant experience with workforce planning, supervising work and allocating resources including coaching, training and conducting performance reviews for direct reports.
- Significant experience with responding to emergency and urgent situations; conduct investigations to ensure that buildings and equipment can be operational with mínimal down time.
- Basic experience with controlling costs and expenses for preventive maintenance, corrective work and providing input to the capital and maintenance budgets.
- Basic experience with processing maintenance work orders, purchase requisitions, weekly schedules, and update the equipment database.
- Significant experience with performing inspections, troubleshooting, repairing and maintenance of equipment is performed to ensure that maintenance was undertaken in accordance with prescribed work order.
- Basic - a few months and up to 2 years
- Significant - 2 to 6 years

- LOTO - Lock Out/Tag Out
- Frequency Drive Programming.
- Experience using computerized maintenance and management system (CMMS)
- Building Automation System, (BAS).
- Experience with MS Office suite (word, excel).

- Solid knowledge of maintenance of facilities and related equipment in an assigned environment (mechanical, electrical, or HVAC systems).
- Solid Knowledge of power distribution systems.

- Solid Ability to identify opportunities for coaching/training and address issues.
- Solid Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety regulations and legislation required to create and maintain a safe environment.
- Basic knowledge of finance, HR, procurement and other management related principles, policies and procedures.
- Solid ability to prioritize, adapt to change and re-evaluate priorities.
