**Controller**
We are recruiting a talented full-time Controller to be responsible for overseeing our team ensuring the smooth operation and accurate reporting of all financial matters. The person in this role is responsible for administering and performing various accounting functions, including the preparation of thorough financial-status reports for senior management, assisting with budgeting, and oversight for ledgers, accounts payable and other transactions. As a strong communicator and possessing strong financial acumen, you will make it your mission to streamline our budgeting, payroll, and financial reporting processes.

**Reporting To**:

**Responsibilities**:
- Provide comprehensive financial updates to senior management by evaluating, analyzing, and reporting appropriate data points.
- Develop, implement, and maintain financial controls and guidelines.
- Achieve budgeting goals with proper scheduling, analysis, and corrective action regarding cashflow analysis.
- Help develop and support short and long-term operational strategies.
- Manage and monitor all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain internal control safeguards for the receipt of revenue, costs and both team and organizational budgets and actual expenditures.
- In conjunction with senior management, establish financial and operating benchmarks, budgets, program monitoring, and reporting standards on a bi-weekly, monthly, and annual basis.
- Implement consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures across all programs, upholding federal, provincial, and local legal standards by remaining knowledgeable about existing, new, and future legislation.
- Develop and enforce internal controls to maximize protection of company assets, policies, procedures, and workflow.
- Oversee and support accounting team with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity.
- Filing of all sales tax reporting on a timely basis.
- Oversee staff in the accounting function and all staff involved for month end close and reporting.
- Review of all account reconciliations performed to ensure accuracy of ledger accounts.
**Requirements**:
- 5+ years experience as a senior-level accounting or finance manager
- Strong understanding of economic, banking and financing processes
- Exemplary history of financial project management
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to attend in-person meetings in Toronto or Sudbury offices.
**Qualifications**:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or related field
- Professional accounting certification - CPA Desired
- Proven experience managing and overseeing daily operations of the accounting department
- Working knowledge of General Accepted Accounting Principles
- Proven payroll experience, with a focus on streamlining accounting processes
- Excellent accounting software user and administration skills
- Ability to deliver quality work on tight deadlines, with strong organization and priority setting skills
