**Summary**

To set up, organize and prepare all aspects of the extrusion process. Operate the extruders efficiently with the highest possible output without sacrificing product quality while keeping scarp or wastage to a minimum. Set up extruders to comply with the customer’s product specifications, ensure the correct blend of materials is being used and ensure the highest quality product is produced.

**Key Responsibilities**:
Set up and run all extruders on the production floor as required:
a) ensuring the correct zone temperatures for product type, film roll sizing, roll winder tension settings, core size, gauge, dimensions, additives required, bubble size etc;
b) production run: type and volume of film scrap to be sorted, slit, chopped for densification

c) ensure the correct raw materials are organized and staged for the process, according to the material scheduled to be run;
- Ensure all extruders have an adequate supply of the correct, designated and blended raw materials;
- Perform quality checks on a regular ongoing basis throughout the production run until completion which should include: gauge, size, colour, treatment levels, strength, clarity, additive levels )slip, anti-block, UV, colours), smoothness, free of wrinkles, die lines, creases, contaminants, roll and winding tension;
- Maintain all raw material storage and extrusion/staging areas, ensuring cleanliness and organization;
- Weigh all raw materials, accurately record information into production log;
- Assist Lead Hand to change cores and finished film rolls off of the extrusion winders; weigh, correctly label, record tag information, and strap then skid the rolls transferring finished skids to the proper designated area;
- Change-over product on the extruder;
- String the film bubble from the extrusion die, through the tower, rollers and winders.
- Organize all raw materials for next shift, communicate to Lead & next Extruder Operator all pertinent information from shift;
- Follow safe operating procedures, wear all required protective gear and adhere to all policies and procedures (fire, health & safety, WHMIS)

**Additional Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Reduce & eliminate spills and waste, keeping material storage & extrusion areas clean, safe and organized for current and next shifts;
- Maintain accurate, concise, timely and legible information and record keeping;
- Ensure no disruption to extrusion production due to a lack of raw material discharged to the extruder hoppers;
- Adhere to the blend formulas provided by the Lead Hand/Shift Supervisor;

**Education and Experience**
- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent training;
- Minimum of 2-3 years of extrusion experience in a blown film environment;
- Familiar with manufacturing/Production process and procedures.
- Attentive to detail, accuracy, well organized, follow direction, co-operative, willing to assist others in a team environment;
- Ability to perform basic math skills, understand percentages, weights and production formulas;
- Solid communication skills, able to and communicate in a loud production factory environment;
- Ability to lift 50 pounds, moving up to 500 pounds using lift trucks/forklifts and moving mechanical equipment in a production location such as rollers, winders, hot extrusion dies & barrels, cutting knives.
