Detailed Overview:
Under the direction of the Program Coordinator, the Activity Worker/Transporation Attendant provides transportation and assistance to clients enrolled in the Adult Day Program, accompanies clients on outings, carries out established activity programs, provides personal care to clients and performs related clerical duties as assigned.

**Responsibilities**:

- Transports clients to and from the Adult Day Program by operating bus; conducts pre-trip safety checks; loads and secures wheelchairs and clients; assists clients to embark/disembark from the bus; porters and utilizes mechanical aids as appropriate.
- Accompanies clients on outings to provide assistance as required; monitors client participation and mobility
- Carries out established activity programs as directed; sets up and organizes furnishings and equipment for activity projects, teaches the techniques of related activities to clients
- Observes clients and reports problems/changes to the Program Coordinator or designate.
- Provides personal care to clients by assisting with activities of daily living including bathing, hygiene, eating, toileting and ambulation, using appropriate equipment for ambulating clients.
- Maintains a safe and tidy work environment for residents and staff; ensures that work area is clean and tidy after activity has ended
- Maintains records such as gas and mileage logs, client participation and degree of involvement in activities.
- Assists with orientation of new staff to unit as assigned.
- Performs related clerical duties such as answering the telephone, making appointments, ordering supplies through stores and maintaing records.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
**Education and Experience**

Grade 12, graduation from a recognized Nursing Assistant Program, completion of recognized recreational courses plus one (1) year's recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid B.C. class 4 unrestricted drivers license. Current CPR (Basic Rescuer) certificate and completion of Food Safe Level 1.
