**Heavy Equipment Technician**
Weldco Heavy Industries (WHI) is a large steel fabrication and repair facility located in the Fort McKay Caribou Energy Park. Strategically positioned in the heart of Alberta’s Oil Sands, WHI s is able to effectively meet the requirements for large steel repair, assembly and refurbishment in the industry.
**What you will do**:
- Interpret work orders and technical manuals
- Check heavy equipment, mobile cranes, and other heavy construction, logging and mining equipment for proper performance and to detect faults and malfunctions
- Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems, using hand and power tools
- Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment
- Service and assemble attachments and working tools such as Hitachi, Komatsu and Caterpillar line
- Perform repair work on heavy trucks if necessary
- Attach components
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair existing hydraulic systems
- Assemble, install, and commission new hydraulic systems
- Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair electrical systems
**Your qualifications**:
- Alberta Journeyman Ticket in Heavy Duty Mechanic
- Directly related experience in a manufacturing facility or with heavy attachments is an asset
**What you bring to the position**:
- Previous experience with heavy equipment is an asset
- Previous experience with mobile cranes is an asset
- Good knowledge of all heavy equipment and power tools and their use and care
- Analytical skills to identify simple problems and find a solution
- Mechanically inclined
- Physically fit to perform work
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Strong safety performance
- Hydraulics experience is a must.
