**Purpose of Job**:
- A Saw Operator will help organize the required work to meet production demands and for producing quality cut product in accordance with work order specification and properly caring for equipment.
- Focusing on the processes and quality of production, driving efficiency.
**3. Principal Accountabilities**:
- Accurately locate and identify stock.
- Procure material for daily production
- Return material to appropriate location
- Accurately process material to minimize waste and drops.
- Proficient and able to properly and accurately use the Fehr system.
- Coordinate availability and quantity of materials to meet job requirements
- Document and perform inspection of parts.
- Properly identify and process paperwork necessary for material handling.
- Assist in labelling, documenting and warehousing incoming raw material
- Performs routine maintenance tasks.
- Perform rework on NCP’s and special cuts as per quality and manufacturing requests
- Create Narrative instructions for the saw department and warehouse processes.
- Troubleshoot and solve problems related to cutting operation and materials as they occur.
- Discuss and identify solutions to cutting problems
- Properly tag, band and package material for shipment.
- Work with team members to ensure maximum machine utilization and efficient cutting operation
- Work well independently with mínimal supervision
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
**4. Health and Safety Responsibilities**:
- Wear all required PPE while in plant.
- Work safely & ergonomically by following H&S policies.
- Report any unsafe acts, conditions or accidents across the plant.
- Report accidents, near misses, injuries, or illnesses immediately to your supervisor.
- Inspect equipment and the workplace regularly.
- Be alert for hazards.
- Cooperate with others on matters relating to occupational safety and health.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Safely operate saws, cranes and forklifts.
**5. Knowledge, Skills and Education**:
- Completion of secondary school or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to use various Mechanical Inspection Tools (e.g. Tape Measure, Calipers, Micrometers)
- Good Written and Oral communication, Problem-solving, Decision making, Critical thinking
- Job task planning and organizing, Significant use of memory;
- Ability to find information and continuous learning.
- High proficiency using in-house apps (Narrative, Scheduling, etc.)
- High level of detail accuracy, manual dexterity, and hand-eye coordination;
- Proficient at reading text, Document use, Numeracy;
- Ability to work as a team/independent.
- Ability to work in a safe and orderly manner.
- Ability to effectively communicate in both oral and written.
