The Department provides instruction to students in a variety of undergraduate and professional programs including Medicine, Dentistry, Health Sciences and the Bachelors of Medical Sciences Program. Outstanding research in our department is built upon our Trainee program. The Anatomy & Cell Biology Program offers a modern collaborative training experience catering to the needs of the individual student pursuing an MSc or PhD degree. Our dedicated award-winning mentors and state-of-the-art facilities provide a rich training environment in which students can immerse themselves in one or more academic disciplines, including cell biology, neurobiology, anatomical sciences, and/or education scholarship. **Responsibilities**: - The Technical/Research Support 1 will be responsible to maintain the gross anatomy laboratory with the assistance of the Laboratory Supervisor. The Technician is responsible for the cleanliness of the laboratories, to ensure anatomy class needs are met with appropriate prosections, material and instruments, and to assist with pre-lab procedures for our various anatomy courses. This position deals with a high level of cadaveric exposure.**Qualifications**: **Education**: - Community College Diploma (Medical or General Lab Technician Certification) - Funeral Service Diploma an asset **Experience**: - 1 year of work experience supporting funeral services, general lab or pathology Skills, Abilities & Expertise: - Detail-oriented with an ability to function and process information with high levels of accuracy - Ability to follow processes with high attention to detail - Ability to employ a systematic and efficient approach to work - Computer skills with the ability to learn and use software programs - Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite - Personable and courteous in working relationships with colleagues, students and the public - Ability to collect and analyze data in an objective manner - Demonstrated ability to understand and resolve issues - Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of the team to achieve department goals - Ability to safely lift, move, up to 100lbs **Why Western?**: **Background Checks**: While transcripts are not required for the interview, they are mandatory prior to any offer of employment.
